  • Earth Day, first celebrated on April 22, 1970, is
an annual day of educating the public about
    environmental issues.
  • In 1970, many people werent aware of the impact
they were having on our environment and our
planet. Over the past four decades, weve learned
so much about the importance of the health of our
    planet.
  • Scientists work on big projects such as reducing
our use of nonrenewable resources or cleaning
    polluted waterways.
  • People can make a difference by following the
three Rs Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
  • We can reduce the number of things we use by
buying permanent items instead of disposables,
such as china plates versus paper plates.
  • We can reuse items such as cloth napkins and
towels, and repair items instead of replacing
    them.
  • We can recycle paper, cardboard, plastics,
metals, and much more so we dont have to use new
    raw materials to replace them.
  • What things do you do to care for our planet?
  • You may be celebrating Earth Day this month, but
the habits you develop now should last throughout
    the year.
