9
Psalms 1111-4 (NASB)

LORD with all my heart, in the company of the

honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne,
to Him who lives forever and ever, 10 the
twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who
sits on the throne, and will worship Him who
lives forever and ever, and will cast their
    crowns before the throne, saying

12
Revelation 411 (NASB)
  • 11 "Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to
receive glory and honor and power for Thou didst
create all things, and because of Thy will they
    existed, and were created."

13
Our number one goal should be to glorify God in
the church.
  • Ephesians 320-21 (NASB) 20 Now to Him who is
able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that
we ask or think, according to the power that
works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the
church and in Christ Jesus to all generations
    forever and ever. Amen.

14
Keeping God
Front and Center.
  • Glory belongs wholly to God.

15
Revelation 191 (NASB)
  • After these things I heard, as it were, a loud
voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
"Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong
    to our God.

16
  • If brethren arent careful, they will place the
preacher or elders front and center in the
church instead of God! (1 Cor. 111-15 34-5,
    21-23).

17
Psalms 8612 (NASB)
  • I will give thanks to Thee, O Lord my God, with
all my heart, and will glorify Thy name forever.

18
Psalms 1151 (NASB)
  • Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Thy name
give glory because of Thy lovingkindness, because
    of Thy truth.

19
Revelation 710-12 (NASB)
  • 10 And they cry out with a loud voice, saying,
"Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and
to the Lamb." 11 And all the angels were standing
around the throne and around the elders and the
four living creatures and they fell on their
faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12
saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and
thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to
our God forever and ever. Amen."

20
Keeping God
Front and Center.
  • Glory belongs wholly to God.
  • Glorifying God in the church demands a team
    effort.

21
Romans 155-6 (NASB)
  • 5 Now may the God who gives perseverance and
encouragement grant you to be of the same mind
with one another according to Christ Jesus 6
that with one accord you may with one voice
glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
    Christ.

22
Keeping God
Front and Center.
  • Glory belongs wholly to God.
  • Glorifying God in the church demands a team
    effort.
  • Whatever we do, we do all to the glory of God.
  • In every aspect of our worship, there is a
deliberate effort made to give the glory to God
    (Rev. 191-7).

23
Prepare to Glorify God!
  • Psalm 100 (NASB) 1 Shout joyfully to the LORD,
all the earth. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness
Come before Him with joyful singing. 3 Know that
the LORD Himself is God It is He who has made
us, and not we ourselves We are His people and
the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter His gates with
thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give
thanks to Him bless His name. 5 For the LORD is
good His lovingkindness is everlasting, and His
    faithfulness to all generations.

24
Preaching or teaching that seeks to glorify God
above all.
  • Psalms 2222 (NASB) I will tell of Thy name to
my brethren In the midst of the assembly I will
    praise Thee.

25
Why we do the good works that we
do.
  • John 158 (NASB) "By this is My Father
glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove
    to be My disciples.

26
Glorifying God in Our Worship.
  • Prayers that Praise!
  • Those that lead prayer seeks to call attention to
Gods greatness, not to themselves (Mat. 61 /
    Ps. 3518).

27
Matthew 65 (NASB)
  • "And when you pray, you are not to be as the
hypocrites for they love to stand and pray in
the synagogues and on the street corners, in
order to be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they
    have their reward in full.

28
Psalms 3518 (NASB)
  • I will give Thee thanks in the great
congregation I will praise Thee among a mighty
    throng.

29
  • Our prayers demonstrate great reverence for God
and contain many praises for what we appreciate
    about Him (Mat. 69
    Heb. 1315).

30
Glorifying God in Our Worship.
  • Prayers that Praise!
  • Singing that magnifies Gods greatness.

31
Psalms 961-6 (NASB)
  • 1 Sing to the LORD a new song Sing to the LORD,
all the earth.2 Sing to the LORD, bless His name
Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day
to day. 3 Tell of His glory among the nations,
His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. 4
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised
He is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the
gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made
the heavens. 6 Splendor and majesty are before
Him, strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

32
  • Song leaders need to have a balance in the
    selection of songs
songs that teach, admonish (Col 316), and praise
    and magnify God (Ps. 6930).

33
Glorifying God in Our Worship.
  • Prayers that Praise!
  • Singing that magnifies Gods greatness.
  • To lift up Christ at the Lords Supper.

34
To lift up Christ
at the Lords Supper.
  • The Lords Supper is not a meal where Christians
satisfy hunger, socialize, or seek to arouse
    their emotions.
  • Not about looking at ourselves, but about making
sure (examine) we honor Jesus in our
    hearts by remembering His sacrifice.

35
1 Corinthians 1124-25 (NASB)
  • 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it,
and said, "This is My body, which is for you do
this in remembrance of Me." 25 In the same way
He took the cup also, after supper, saying, "This
cup is the new covenant in My blood do this, as
often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

36
1 Corinthians 1126-28 (NASB)
  • 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink
the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He
    comes. 27 Therefore whoever
eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in
an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body
and the blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man
examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread
    and drink of the cup.

37
The Lords Supper
  • A special time of admiration for Him, to lift up
His importance, to give thanks for Him
    Christ our Passover is
sacrificed for us! (1 Cor. 57b)

38
Glorifying God in Our Worship.
  • Prayers that Praise!
  • Singing that magnifies Gods greatness.
  • To lift up Christ at the Lords Supper.
  • To demonstrate thanksgiving in our offering.

39
  • Some have been deceived by the Prosperity
gospel giving only so that they may one day
become materially rich (cf. Mat. 1322).

40
  • Others boast in giving, seeking the glory of men
    (Mat. 62 Amos 45).

41
  • Giving of our means on the first day of the week
(1 Cor. 161-2) is an opportunity to give to the
    Lord (2 Cor. 85 cf. 1 Chron. 2917).

42
1 Chronicles 2917 (NASB)
  • Since I know, O my God, that Thou triest the
heart and delightest in uprightness, I, in the
integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all
these things so now with joy I have seen Thy
people, who are present here, make their
    offerings willingly to Thee.

43
Philippians 418 (NASB)
  • But I have received everything in full, and have
an abundance I am amply supplied, having
received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a
    fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice,
    well-pleasing to God.

44
Glorifying God in All Our Preaching and Teaching.
  • The goal of every lesson should be to glorify God
    and His wisdom.
  • Teachers of world lift themselves up as wise men
    promote their doctrines.
  • Seeking our pleasure or entertainment is not
    glorifying God.
  • The aim should always be to bring people closer
to God and magnify His wisdom above mens.

45
1 Corinthians 21-3 (NASB)
  • 1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not
come with superiority of speech or of wisdom,
proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2 For I
determined to know nothing among you except Jesus
Christ, and Him crucified. 3 And I was with you
in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. 4
And my message and my preaching were not in
persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration
of the Spirit and of power

46
1 Corinthians 21-3 (NASB)
  • 5 that your faith should not rest on the wisdom
of men, but on the power of God. 6 Yet we do
speak wisdom among those who are mature a
wisdom, however, not of this age, nor of the
rulers of this age, who are passing away 7 but
we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden
wisdom, which God predestined before the ages to
    our glory

47
  • Preaching just the gospel
instead of our opinions reveals the righteousness
of God and glorifies His power as supreme!
    (Romans 115-17).

48
Glorifying God in All Our Preaching and Teaching.
  • The goal of every lesson should be to glorify God
    and His wisdom.
  • Preachers especially need to make sure God is
glorified in the work they do.
  • Due to the public nature of a preachers work,
evangelists must work hard to give God the glory
and not seek it for themselves.

49
1 Thessolonians 23-4 (NASB)
  • 3 For our exhortation does not come from error
or impurity or by way of deceit 4 but just as we
have been approved by God to be entrusted with
the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men but
    God, who examines our hearts

50
1 Thessolonians 25-6 (NASB)
  • 5 For we never came with flattering speech, as
you know, nor with a pretext for greed God is
witness 6 nor did we seek glory from men,
either from you or from others, even though as
apostles of Christ we might have asserted our
    authority.

51
  • Like Paul, every preacher must
not presume to speak of anything except what
    Christ has accomplished through him!
    (Rom. 1518).

52
  • The church must give the glory to God (not the
preacher) for the good that is accomplished by
    preaching Gods word (Acts
    2119-20a).

53
Acts 2119-20a (NASB)
  • 19 And after he had greeted them, he began to
relate one by one the things which God had done
among the Gentiles through his ministry. 20 And
when they heard it they began glorifying God.

54
Glorifying God in the Work We Do as a Church.
  • Committed to the spiritual work God has given the
    church to do.

55
Work that glorifies who?
  • Many local churches desire to do the kind of work
that the world views as valuable, desiring the
glory of men more than wanting to glorify God.
  • Examples Recreation, theatre, camps, banquet
halls, secular education, orphan homes, fight
world hunger, health care, housing, counseling,
    politics, social justice.

56
  • To truly glorify God, the local church must work
as a team to fulfill the spiritual work God
    has given her to do.

57
Evangelism/ Preaching the gospel
  • Matt 2819-20 (NASB)
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all
the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20
teaching them to observe all that I commanded
you and lo, I am with you always, even to the
    end of the age. "

58
Evangelism/ Preaching the gospel
  • Philippians 415 (NASB) And you
yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the
first preaching of the gospel, after I departed
from Macedonia, no church shared with me in the
matter of giving and receiving but you alone

59
Edification/ Building up Christians
  • Ephesians 416 (NASB)
  • from whom the whole body, being fitted and held
together by that which every joint supplies,
according to the proper working of each
individual part, causes the growth of the body
for the building up of itself in love. cf.
    Acts 2032

60
Benevolence/Helping needy Christians
  • Acts 244-45 (NASB)
44 And all those who had believed were
together, and had all things in common 45 and
they began selling their property and
possessions, and were sharing them with all, as
    anyone might have need.

61
Benevolence/Helping needy Christians
  • Acts 1129 (NASB)
And in the proportion that any of the
disciples had means, each of them determined to
send a contribution for the relief of the
    brethren living in Judea.

62
  • By doing only the work God has planned for us to
do is to truly honor the Lord and respect His
wisdom as superior to our own! (Isa. 558-9).

63
Glorifying God in the Work We Do as a Church.
  • Committed to the spiritual work God has given the
    church to do.
  • We give God the glory for all our achievements
    (Ps. 1151).

64
Psalms 1151 (NASB)
  • Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Thy name
give glory because of Thy lovingkindness, because
    of Thy truth.

65
  • Successful teamwork in the church requires
recognition of where our gifts or talents came
from by the grace of God (Rom. 123-6a).

66
1 Peter 410 (NASB)
  • As each one has received a special gift, employ
it in serving one another, as good stewards of
    the manifold grace of God

67
1 Peter 411 (NASB)
  • Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the
utterances of God whoever serves, let him do so
as by the strength which God supplies so that in
all things God may be glorified through Jesus
Christ, to whom belongs the glory and
    dominion forever and ever. Amen.

68
Leading People to Glorify God instead of the
Church.
  • Our good works are ultimately meant to lead
people to the Lord, not to us.

69
Matthew 516 (NASB)
  • Let your light shine before men in such a way
that they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father who is in heaven.

70
Leading People to Glorify God instead of the
Church.
  • Our good works are ultimately meant to lead
people to the Lord, not to us.
  • When people are saved, it is to the praise of
    the glory of His grace.

71
Ephesians 15-6 (NASB)
  • 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through
Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind
intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the
glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on
    us in the Beloved.

72
  • Whenever a soul is saved,
it is to God that we are to give the glory (1
    Cor. 35-7).

73
  • What Will You Do to Bring Glory
    to God in His Church?
Let us Work as a Team to Fulfill the Goal to
    Glorify God Everyday!
