Tuesday December 18, 2007Christmas Special Old
Testament Prophecies of the Birth of Jesus Christ
Tape 1
3
Please turn in your Bibles to Genesis 31.
4
The Old Testament, written over a period of one
thousand years and written several hundred years
before the time of Christ, contains some three
hundred prophecies of the coming Messiah.
5
All of these ancient prophecies were fulfilled in
the person of Jesus Christ, and they provide
solid confirmation for His credentials as Messiah
and for His claims as the Son of God and Savior.
6
The probability of all these prophecies being
fulfilled in one person as merely coincidence is
beyond comprehension and, for all practical
purposes, mathematically impossible.
7
Jesus Christ is the one Man in the history of
the world of whom explicit details of His birth,
life, death and resurrection were given centuries
beforehand.
8
The astounding miracle of these predictions of
Christ demonstrates that the Bible is inspired by
the Holy Spirit since nothing but divine
omniscience could have foreseen it and nothing
but divine omnipotence could accomplish it.
9
2 Peter 120, But know this first of all, that
no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own
interpretation.
10
2 Peter 121, for no prophecy was ever made by
an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy
Spirit spoke from God.
11
Jeremiah 112, I am watching over My word to
perform it.
12
God the Holy Spirit inspired the Old Testament
prophets to set down in perfect accuracy the
details concerning the birth of Christ.
13
The first prophecy concerning the birth of Christ
appears in Genesis 315 after the fall of Adam
when the Lord declared to the devil that his
works would be destroyed by the Seed of the
woman.
14
Genesis 31, Now the serpent was more crafty
than any beast of the field which the LORD God
had made. And he said to the woman, Indeed, has
God said, You shall not eat from any tree of the
garden?
15
Genesis 32, The woman said to the serpent,
From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may
eat.
16
Genesis 33, but from the fruit of the tree
which is in the middle of the garden, God has
said, You shall not eat from it or touch it, or
you will die.
17
Genesis 34, The serpent said to the woman, You
surely will not die!
18
Genesis 35, For God knows that in the day you
eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you
will be like God, knowing good and evil.
19
Genesis 36, When the woman saw that the tree
was good for food, and that it was a delight to
the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make
one wise, she took from its fruit and ate and
she gave also to her husband with her, and he
ate.
20
Genesis 37, Then the eyes of both of them
were opened, and they knew that they were naked
and they sewed fig leaves together and made
themselves loin coverings.
21
Genesis 38, They heard the sound of the LORD
God walking in the garden in the cool of the day,
and the man and his wife hid themselves from the
presence of the LORD God among the trees of the
garden.
22
Genesis 39, Then the LORD God called to the
man, and said to him, Where are you?
23
Genesis 310, He said, I heard the sound of You
in the garden, and I was afraid because I was
naked so I hid myself.
24
Genesis 311, And He said, Who told you that
you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of
which I commanded you not to eat?
25
Genesis 312, The man said, The woman whom
You gave to be with me, she gave me from the
tree, and I ate.
26
Genesis 313, Then the LORD God said to the
woman, What is this you have done? And the
woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I
ate.
27
Genesis 314, The LORD God said to the serpent,
Because you have done this, cursed are you more
than all cattle, and more than every beast of the
field On your belly you will go, and dust you
will eat all the days of your life.
28
Genesis 315, And I will put enmity between you
and the woman, and between your seed and her
seed He shall bruise you on the head, and you
shall bruise him on the heel.
29
Your seed refers to the Antichrist and her
Seed refers to the Lord Jesus Christ who is the
Last Adam (1 Cor. 1545).
30
He (Jesus Christ) shall bruise you (Satan) on
the head is the first prophecy concerning the
fact that the Lord Jesus Christ would defeat
Satan at the cross by being obedient to the
Fathers will with His death on the cross.
31
You (Satan) shall bruise Him (Christ) on the
heel is a symbolic or figurative reference to
the Lords suffering and death on the cross,
which the Father used as the instrument to
destroy the works of the devil.
32
1 John 38, The Son of God appeared for this
purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
33
The prophecy of Genesis 315 is the seed plot
of the Virgin Birth and Incarnation of the Son of
God (Isa. 714 Mt. 123 John 114 1 Tim.
316).
34
Genesis 315 is also the seed plot of the
Redemption and Salvation of mankind as well as
the defeat of Satan, which is developed in
further detail in the rest of the Bible (Gal.
313 Eph. 17 Col. 214 Heb. 214-15 1 Jn.
38) and its fulfillment is found in Matthew 21,
Luke 27 and Galatians 44.
35
Galatians 44-5, But when the fullness of the
time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a
woman, born under the Law, so that He might
redeem those who were under the Law, that we
might receive the adoption as sons.
36
From this point on in Genesis the chain of
promises and prophecies concerning the Seed or
Descendant of the woman grows until its
culminates in the birth of Christ who not only
was the Seed or Descendant of the woman but
also the Seed or Descendant of Abraham and the
Seed or Descendant of David.
37
Genesis 2218 prophesied that Jesus would be a
descendant of Abraham and its fulfillment is
recorded in Galatians 316.
38
Galatians 316, Now the promises were spoken to
Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, And to
seeds, as referring to many, but rather to one,
and to your seed, that is, Christ.
39
Genesis 2112 prophesied that Jesus would be a
descendant of Abrahams son Isaac and its
fulfillment is recorded in Luke 323, 34 and
Matthew 12.
40
Numbers 2417 prophesied that Jesus would be a
descendant of Jacob and its fulfillment is
recorded in Matthew 12 and Luke 133.
41
Genesis 4910 prophesied that our Lord would come
from the tribe of Judah and its fulfillment is
recorded in Matthew 12 and Hebrews 714.
42
Hebrews 714, For it is evident that our Lord
was descended from Judah.
43
 2 Samuel 716, Psalm 8934-37 and Jeremiah 235
prophesy that Jesus Christ would be a descendant
of David and its fulfillment is recorded in
Matthew 11, 927, 1522, 2030, Luke 1838-39,
Acts 1322-23, Romans 13 and Revelation 2216.
44
One of the royal titles that the Lord Jesus
Christ possesses is that of the Son of David,
which denotes His rulership over the nation of
Israel (Matt. 11 2030 Mark 1047-48 Luke
132 2 Tim. 28 Rev. 37 55 2216).
45
Revelation 2216, I am the root and the
descendant of David, the bright morning star.
46
2 Samuel 716, Your (Davids) house and your
kingdom shall endure before Me forever your
throne shall be established forever.
47
Jeremiah 235, Behold, the days are coming,"
declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David
a righteous Branch (figure for Jesus Christ) And
He (Jesus Christ) will reign as king and act
wisely and do justice and righteousness in the
land.
48
This covenant with David is called in theology,
the Davidic covenant and is an extension of the
Abrahamic covenant, which promised Abraham that
kings would descend from him and the greatest was
the King of kings, Jesus Christ.
49
Genesis 176, I will make you exceedingly
fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and
kings will come forth from you.
50
The Lords promise to Abraham that kings will
come forth from you is a reference to primarily
the kings of Israel (Gen. 3511 4910 2 Sam.
78-16) and the Lord Jesus Christ.
51
The Davidic covenant contains four promises
(1) A Davidic House Posterity of David will
never be destroyed. (2) A Davidic Throne Kingdom
of David shall never be destroyed. (3) A Davidic
Kingdom Davids Son (Christ) will have an
earthly sphere of rule. (4) It Shall Be Unending.

52
There were times when Satan almost succeeded in
destroying the Seed.
53
 Genesis 61-8, 1 Peter 318-20, 2 Peter 24-5
and Jude 6 records the fallen angels, the sons
of God infiltrating the human race by having sex
with unregenerate woman producing the Nephilim
who were half-men and half angel and this was
done by Satan to prevent the Son of God from
becoming true humanity.
54
 Matthew 216-18 records the Satanically
inspired attack through Herod who killed innocent
babies in the hopes that the Seed Jesus Christ
would be among them.
55
Matthew 216, Then when Herod saw that he had
been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged,
and sent and slew all the male children who were
in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years
old and under, according to the time which he had
determined from the magi.
56
Matthew 217-18, Then what had been spoken
through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled A
VOICE WAS HEARD IN RAMAH, WEEPING AND GREAT
MOURNING, RACHEL WEEPING FOR HER CHILDREN AND
SHE REFUSED TO BE COMFORTED, BECAUSE THEY WERE NO
MORE.
57
Matthew 218 records the fulfillment of the
prophesy of Jeremiah 3115.
58
Jeremiah 3115, Thus says the LORD, a voice is
heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping.
Rachel is weeping for her children She refuses
to be comforted for her children, because they
are no more.
59
Revelation 121-6 records the failure of
Satans attempt to prevent the birth of Christ.
60
Revelation 121, A great sign appeared in
heaven a woman (Israel) clothed with the sun
(Jacob), and the moon (Rachel and Leah) under her
feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars
(twelve patriarchs of Israel, aka, Jacob).
61
Revelation 122, and she (Israel) was with child
(Jesus Christ) and she cried out, being in labor
and in pain to give birth.
62
Revelation 123, Then another sign appeared in
heaven and behold, a great red dragon having
seven heads (7 great gentile world empires (1)
Egypt (2) Assyria (3) Babylon (4) Medo-Persia (5)
Graeco-Macedonia (6) Rome (7) Future Revived
Roman Empire) and ten horns (10-nation
confederacy, which will compose the future
Revived Roman Empire during the Tribulation), and
on his heads were seven diadems.
63
Revelation 124, And his tail swept away a
third of the stars of heaven and threw them to
the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman
who was about to give birth, so that when she
gave birth he might devour her child.
64
This verse refers to the Herods Satanically
inspired attempts to kill Jesus Christ when He
was born.
65
Revelation 125, And she gave birth to a son, a
male child, who is to rule all the nations with a
rod of iron and her child was caught up to God
and to His throne.
66
Revelation 126, Then the woman fled into the
wilderness where she had a place prepared by God,
so that there she would be nourished for one
thousand two hundred and sixty days.
67
In light of the Satanic attack upon the line of
Christ, we can understand the purpose of the
genealogies of Jesus Christ who came as the the
Seed of the woman, and which genealogies remind
us of the failure of Satan to destroy the
Messianic line stretching from Adam to Christ.
68
The Bible also prophesied as to the place of
our Lords birth, namely, in the town of
Bethlehem.
69
Micah 52, But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
too little to be among the clans of Judah, from
you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in
Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from
the days of eternity.
70
Matthew 21, Now after Jesus was born in
Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the
king.
71
Then, we come to the prophecies recorded in
Isaiah 714 and 96-7, which state that Jesus
Christ would be born of a virgin and God in human
flesh.
72
Isaiah 714, Therefore the Lord Himself will
give you a sign behold, a virgin will be with
child and bear a son, and she will call His name
Immanuel (God with us).
73
Isaiah 96, For a child will be born to us, a
son will be given to us and the government will
rest on His shoulders and His name will be
called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal
Father, Prince of Peace.
74
Isaiah 97, There will be no end to the
increase of His government or of peace, on the
throne of David and over his kingdom, to
establish it and to uphold it with justice and
righteousness from then on and forevermore. The
zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish
this.
