Why is Mobility and Health
  • SMS works with Reverie women ( especially who
    lives in Char( river islands) far distance from
    the mainland (about 10 -15 km) without having any
    health care facilities

  • Reduce vulnerability through community owned
    engine boat

CASE STUDY
  • Rokeya Begum , a wife of day labor having 4
    daughters and 3 sons become pregnant again
  • She lives 12 km far from Mainland and need to 3
    to 4 hours for walking
  • Means of transport are walking in dry season and
    engine boat in rainy season.
  • She never gets care and support during her
    pregnancy , she used to seek help from
    traditional birth attendance ( non-trained).
  • After giving birth Rokey was died for unsafe
    deliver without treatment.

Learning from Case Study and SMS interventions
  • Share case with other community members
    (especially women)
  • Community members( men and women) analyses
    alternative solutions to save lives of pregnant
    women
  • SMS and community members talked with Civil
    Surgeon and influence to sent one doctor
    biweekly.
  • SMS share cost of medicines ( if emergency)
  • Published the case in local Newspapers
  • Social Action Group formed with Civil Society in
    emergency rescue, especially pregnant women and
    flood.
