YEAR 12 RESULTS - 2006
  • 100 of students achieved Secondary Graduation.
  • Nearly all students who applied for university
    entrance were accepted (98.2).
  • Over 80 of students completing TEE performed in
    the top 2/3 of the state.

  • Over 70 of students studying TEE were offered
    their first university preference.
  • Over 80 of CareerLink students achieved a TAFE
    full qualification.
  • A number of state awards were received.

Secondary Graduation
  • (1) Complete at least ten full year Curriculum
    Council subjects.
  • Courses of Study unit pairs are
    equivalent to one subject.
  • Students studying TAFE certificate courses
    will gain subject equivalence (maximum
  • (2) Achieve an average of at least a C grade in
    eight subjects four of these subjects must be
    completed in Year 12.
  • A Level 4 in a Course of Study is considered
    the equivalent to a C grade
  • Students studying TAFE certificate courses will
    gain subject equivalence (maximum of 2 subjects)
    pending on the number of hours studied.

Secondary Graduation
  • (3) Achieve English language competence
  • Students must achieve a C grade in English
    Literature or an average of a Level 4 in the two
    units of an English Course of Study in Year 12.
  • Students who do not meet this criteria will be
    enrolled to sit the English language competence
    test

Calculating C Average
  • For full year subjects an A5, B4,C3,D2,E1
  • The average of the 8 best grades from the Year 11
    12 Report is calculated. Four of these
    subjects must be Year 12 subjects. If the
    average is 3 or greater then the student has
    achieved the C average.
  • Students studying new COS will have Level 4
    converted to a C grade or 3 points.
  • Students studying TAFE certificate courses will
    have the number of subjects considered in their
    average reduced.

  • Eg a TER of 99 means a student is equal to, or
    better than, 99 of the entire Year 12

  • Based on the Tertiary Entrance Score (TES).
  • TES based on
  • - best four/five Year 12 subjects/courses
  • - must include at least one List 1 and one
    List 2 subject English now counts fully
  • - cannot count some pairings eg English/English
    Lit Applicable Maths/Discrete Maths etc
  • - subject average multiplied by 5.1 for score
    out of 510
  • - converted to a TER.

Sickness and Misadventure Provisions
  • During the year
  • School can case manage a number of circumstances
    ongoing illness or medical condition, students
    with disabilities etc
  • School can provide allowances for short term
    medical conditions or circumstances
  • The provisions the school sets in place will most
    likely also extend to the TEE
  • During the TEE
  • Curriculum Council can make special provisions
    for longer term requirements
  • Curriculum Council will deal with short term
    misadventure eg illness, car accident,
    bereavement etc
  • Strict application processes apply to both

    sciences
  • Year 12 is a full time occupation 20 hours of
    additional study per week is a minimum
  • Keep things normal
  • Exam focus is critical 70 of score
