Purpose of Seminar Period
  • Is to be used for quiet study time.
  • Catch up on missed assignments and tests.
  • To get work after returning from absences.
  • Obtain one on one assistance from teachers.
  • Hold assemblies and grade level meetings.
  • Some club and organizational activities.
  • Take state and national tests.

Key Seminar Procedures
  • Report to Seminar on time (930 A.M.).
  • Stay for 15 minutes (quiet time, announcements,
    general class business)
  • When leaving, fill out pass obtain teachers
    signature sign out on the pink sign out sheet.
  • You must have your I.D. displayed at all times.
  • Go to destination(s) sign in conduct business
    sign out. (Be quiet in the hallways, Work with
    the monitors!)
  • Return to original seminar, sign in, and remain
    until bell. (1055 A.M.)

Seminar Rules
  • You can NOT go to your locker at any time.
  • Visit at least 3 teachers each seminar period.
  • Return to Seminar within 10 minutes of the final
    bell (1045 A.M.)
  • Return seminar pass book to Mr. Spivey.
  • If you receive a D or F in any class or if
    you are placed on Effort Warning or Effort
    Suspension, you will be required to visit that
    teacher every Seminar period until your status
    changes.
  • Students who fail to report to the appropriate
    areas during seminar will lose the similar
    privileges.

Seminar Procedures
  • Computers are NOT here for your use!
  • You must sign in before using the computer and
    explain why you are using it.
  • To use a computer you should visit your other
    teachers that have technology classroom.
  • My academic students are the only people allowed
    to use computers during seminar.

Seminar Period Violations
  • Individuals who fail to respect seminar classroom
    rules will be given writing assignments from Mr.
    Spivey.
  • Referrals will be written for any violation of
    the student seminar rules.
  • Administrators may take seminar privileges away
    from any student for violations.

Graduation Requirements at JHS
  • 26 credits
  • Minimum 5 1/2 credits by the end of this year
  • 2 diploma types
  • General
  • College Prep (2 credits of foreign language and
    take ACT Prep Math and take Advanced courses
    starting in 10th grade (must get A or B this
    year to qualify)

  • Friday, December 16, 2005- end of 1st Semester
    (must have at least 2 credits)
  • Friday, June 2, 2006- end of 2nd Semester (must
    have at least 5 ½ credits)

Attendance 2005-2006
  • 10 unexcused absences failure of class.
  • 15 total absences failure of class
  • To participate in graduation ceremonies, you must
    average 91 attendance over your four years of
    high school.
