INVITATION ISNTii 2010
We are delighted to invite you to attend the 5th
Meeting of the International Society for
Neurosurgical Technology and Instrument Invention
(ISNTii2010) to be held 3-4 November 2010 at
Swissotel The Bosphorus, in Istanbul, Turkey.
This meeting will bring together neurosurgeons
and medical industry from all over the world. The
aim of the meeting will be to share and discuss
the ideas and comments on neurosurgical
technology and instrument invention.   ISNTii
meeting is essential not only due to the rapid
development in technology but also because there
is no other society could cover the areas such
as, "Future research and biotechnology", "Copy
and patent rights", "medico legal issues" and
"cooperation with the industry". The education
and guidance of young Neurosurgeons through the
invention and research process is one of the
goals of this meeting.   This meeting provides a
great opportunity for the companies to promote
their products during 20 minutes sessions in the
scientific program of ISNTii. Sessions will be
followed by discussions together with the world
leader neurosurgeons.   Following this meeting,
5th International Microneurosurgical Anatomy
Symposium will be held 4-7 2010 at the same
venue. In a beautiful Bosphorus atmosphere,
surgical microanatomy, current microsurgical and
endoscopic techniques, future surgical technology
will entirely be discussed on Orbit, Epilepsy,
Skull Base, Brain Stem, Petrosal Apex, Pineal
Region, Basal Cisterns, Pituitary Gland,
Cavernous Sinus, Cerebral Ventricles,
Cerebellopontine Angle, Nervous System Tumors,
Spinal Cord and Peripheral Nerve, Posterior Fossa
and Cranial Nerves, Aneurysm, AVMs and
Cavernomas.   Due to its geographic location,
Istanbul has always been a settlement area from
early ages onwards. Besides connecting the two
continents, Europe and Asia, Istanbul has always
been a cultural pot where civilizations have
accumulated and ready to host you with a great
enthusiasm.   We are looking forward to welcome
you and your family in Istanbul.

HOST SOCIETY ISNTii 2010
The Intl Society for Neurosurgical Technology
and Instrument Invention was founded by Kenchiro
Sugita, M.D and had its first gathering in Japan
in 1995 under the President Shigeaki Kobayashi,
who served as the founding President of the
Society. At the time of the foundation, 24
highly experienced neurosurgeons with impressive
credits in instrument invention and international
publication formed the membership. Japan,
Germany, Italy, France, Brazil, America,
Argentina, Egypt, Portugal, Russia, India, Korea,
Canada and the UK are all   represented this
truly international society. 80 of the
membership has instrumentation or neurosurgical
technology in use in the field of international
surgery. For more information on the Society

INVITATION ISMA 2010
Dear Colleagues, I am very pleased to announce
that 5th International Symposium on
Microneurosurgical Anatomy and 5th Int'l Society
for Neurosurgery Technology and Instrument
Inventors Meeting will be held in November 3-7,
2010 at Swissotel the Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey
under the presidency of Professor Albert L.
Rhoton and myself. The great success of the
meetings in Japan, Brazil, also 2nd and 3rd ISMA,
which had been held in Turkey, has also
contributed to the determination of the place of
the 5th Symposium. In a beautiful Bosphorus
atmosphere, surgical microanatomy, current
microsurgical and endoscopic techniques, future
surgical technology will entirely be discussed on
Orbit, Epilepsy, Skull Base, Brain Stem, Petrosal
Apex, Pineal Region, Basal Cisterns, Pituitary
Gland, Cavernous Sinus, Cerebral Ventricles,
Cerebellopontine Angle, Nervous System Tumors,
Spinal Cord and Peripheral Nerve, Posterior Fossa

due to the rapid development in technology but
also because there is no other society could
cover the areas such as, "Future research and
biotechnology", "Copy and patent rights", "medico

industry". The education and guidance of young
Neurosurgeons through the invention and research
process is the goal of this meeting. During
ISNTii meeting, one full session will be reserved
for the companies to discuss the new products,
the future products and the relationship with
neurosurgeons. There will be a session about
invention and how to encourage young
neurosurgeons to perform research and discuss the
problems of invention. The most prominent
neurosurgeons highly experienced on skull base,
microsurgery, spine surgery, neuroanatomy and
endoscopic interventions from all around the
world will participate and share their valuable
experiences at these meetings. Due to its
geographic location, Istanbul has always been a
settlement area from early ages onwards. And
besides connecting the two continents, Europe and
Asia, Istanbul has always been a cultural pot
where civilizations have accumulated. Istanbul is
selected as European Capital of Culture 2010 by
European Union Council of Ministers and ready to

INVITATION ISMA 2010
We are proud to announce that the 5th
International Symposia on Microneurosurgical
Anatomy and on Neurosurgical Technology and
Instrument Invention will be combined into a
single symposium at the Swissotel the Bosporus,
in Istanbul, Turkey, November 3-7, 2010 under the
Presidency of Professor Erdener Timurkaynak.
The great success of the previous Symposia on
microsurgical anatomy held in Turkey and the
contribution by Turkish Neurosurgeons to our
understanding of microsurgical anatomy and
operative techniques make it most appropriate
that these important symposiums be held in
Istanbul, one of the world's most beautiful,
historic and important cities. This exciting
setting on the Bosporus at the meeting of the
waters connecting the Mediterranean and Black
Seas will serve as a great place for our
learning. I am especially grateful to Professor
Timurkaynak for planning and developing this
outstanding program. One of my first
microsurgical projects was with Professor
Timurkaynak. It has been most gratifying to watch
his emergence as an academic leader in Turkey and
worldwide.   The essence and most distinguishing
characteristic of neurosurgery is that we assist
our patient with skills that see and touch the
nervous system. We work in delicate, small, and
even tiny places where taking the wrong road may
cause great damage. The knowledge of
microsurgical anatomy and the selection and use
of microsurgical instruments are basic to the
avoidance of neural and vascular damage during
neurosurgery and for making our surgery accurate,
gentle and safe. These delicate sciences will be
illuminated by the international leaders in
neurosurgery during these important symposia. I
extend my sincere appreciation to our invited
speakers and meeting participants who will come
from around the world. During this 4-day Forum
there will be extensive discussions of the
advances in surgery of the skull base, cerebrum,
cerebellum, ventricular system, posterior fossa,
spine, orbit, sella and peripheral nerves.
Advances in instrumentation for cranial and
spinal surgery and endoscopy will be discussed
along with information on how neurosurgeons can
develop and protect their ideas and inventions.
The focus of this forum will be to make the
delicate, awesome, and fateful work of the
neurosurgeon more accurate, gentle, and safe for
our patients.   Albert L. Rhoton, Jr., MD
