Why Release 18?
  • Datatel is changing Colleague architecture to
    keep up to date with new technologies, and
    fulfill the needs of the learning community
  • Database independence will allow Datatel to be
    more efficient at developing new functionalities
    and improve the current ones.
  • Capital will continue using Unidata
  • R18 is the stepping stone for the coming User
    Experience (R19).

  • New architecture supports database independence
  • I-Descriptors need to be converted to computed

  • Produce and review custom software inventory
    Reports, rules, programs, files, I-descriptors,

What does it mean for users?
  • Colleague workflows are not affected. No new
    training required. Just testing.
  • Maximize use of Query Builder, considering SHEL
    is going away
  • Evaluate reporting alternatives to replace
    reporting tools that may not work in R18

  • Everything Screens, processes, reports, queries
  • All information needs to be verified for
    functionality and validity
  • DOWNLOAD, PRINT.PAGE, CUWORD
