  • The goal of this project is to develop a powered
    ankle-foot orthotic which is adaptable to a large
    number of users without modification to the
    design for each user.

  • Uses air-pressure driven bladders that contract
    upon inflation to amplify muscle power
  • Uses a subjects EMG signal to control the amount
    of additional muscle power provided
  • Deliverables
  • Fully constructed powered foot-ankle orthotic
    device
  • User friendly LabView control system
  • Test results showing force-pressure relationships
    and time delay of muscle
  • Preliminary test results showing how added muscle
    power effects an individuals ability to recover
    from a fall
