Introduction
  • British Columbia is a great place to go to for
a trip or vacation. There are many great
activities you can do like canoeing, climbing
mountains, fishing, down-hill skiing, and many
more. British Columbia (B.C for short) is beside
the Pacific Ocean. It is a province located in
the most western part of Canada. There will be
more information on the next few slides.

Land
  • British Columbia is the third largest province in
Canada. A quarter of B.Cs land consists of
trees. The Rocky Mountains lie on British
Columbias eastern side. The Rocky Mountains are
the best-known mountains in Canada. British
Columbia is located in the western part of
Canada. Its the most western province in
    Canada.

6
Mountains
  • There are many mountains in British Columbia.
This region is called the Western Cordillera. It
consists of a range of mountains that stretch
from Alaska to the southern tip of South America.
It covers 90 percent of British Columbia.

7
Climate
  • British Columbias winters are wet and
mild. Their summers are cooler and drier,
especially in the South. It rains quite a lot
because it lies beside the Pacific Ocean. The
Pacific Ocean affects the climate in British
Columbia. The water causes different kinds of
weather. Its average coastal temperature is
about around 0 C (32 F) in January and in July
    the coastal temperature is about 15 C (59 F).

8
Population
  • The population in 1996 was 3,724,500. There was a
population of 3,282,061 inhabitants in British
Columbia in the year of 1991, an increase of 13.8
percent over 1986. More people started to come in
1991 because British Columbia tourist attractions
were so great they made people want to go there.
The capital city of B.C is Victoria, which is
located in the southern part of Vancouver Island.
Vancouver is the largest city in B.C.

9
Tourism
  • Tourism is an another industry in British
Columbia. Since B.C has so many attractions and
scenery, its tourism is a big industry. There are
tourism sights in B.C like the Rocky Mountains,
the Pacific Ocean, the Okanagan Valley, and many
    more!

Symbols

11
Forestry
  • British Columbia has 20 or more percent of
Canadas forestry. Forestry is another main
industry because British Columbia has so many
trees. A reason why it has so many trees is thate
the Pacific Ocean is beside it. The water helps
make the trees grow larger and larger.

12
Water
  • The Pacific Ocean is located on the west side of
British Columbia. People go on ferry boats,
sail boats, and even submarines on the Pacific
Ocean. Its another great place to go to in
    British Columbia.
