4IDENTIFICATION AND MONITORING
- Priority shall be given to
- Ecosystems and habitats containing high
diversity, large numbers of endemic or threatened
species - Species and communities which are threatened
- Genomes and genes of social, scientific or
economic importance - CBD Annex 1

5CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES
- Agrees by consensus upon and adopts rules of
procedure - Establishes subsidiary bodies
- Keeps under review the implementation of the
Convention and undertakes any additional action
that may be required for the achievement of its
purposes - Considers, reviews and adopts scientific,
technical and technological advice - CBD Article 23

state-of-the-art technologies - Responds to scientific, technical, technological
and methodological questions from COP - CBD Article 25

- Development and dissemination of regional
guidelines for rapid assessment of inland water

ecosystems suffering from ecological disaster - assessments should be simple, inexpensive, rapid
and easy to use

water and living resources to balance the three
