WHAT ALL IS INCLUDED?
  • Roundtrip motor coach transportation. Each coach
    equipped with a DVD/VCR,A/C and a restroom
  • Hotel rooms and taxes for 1 night at the Embassy
    Suites North Charleston
  • Three meals One buffet breakfast at the hotel, a
    cookout lunch by Barrier Island Eco-Tours, and
    one buffet dinner
  • Professionally conducted Ghost Tour of downtown
    Charleston
  • Professionally guided tour of historic downtown
    Charleston and The Citadel
  • Admission and tour of Drayton Hall Plantation
    with professional guides. Group will participate
    in the program A Day in the Life of a
    Plantation
  • A three hour Eco-Tour and boat ride-conducted
    by a naturalist instructor
  • All guide and driver gratuities included. Also,
    touring permit charges included.

COST AND PAYMENT TIMELINE
  • Per person prices are as follows
  • (Prices are based on a minimum of 35 passengers
    per coach)
  • (Lowest price is based on 35 passengers rates go
    up slightly for fewer passengers)

  • Quad price is for those staying in a room with
    4 people.
  • If a parent chooses to have their child stay in a
    double or triple occupancy room, those students
    will be charged the additional costs as listed

    due October 16th, 2009
  • Additional Payments October 19th-December
    11th-100.00
  • Final Payment Due by March 15th, 2010 (Remaining
    balance due)
  • No refunds after January 1st, 2010

I WOULD LIKE TO BE A CHAPERONE
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools screens all
    volunteers to ensure the safety of our students.
    The screening includes completion of an online
    volunteer registration form and a criminal
    background check. Volunteer screening can also
    include interviews by appropriate CMS staff and
    reference checks.
  • We have three kinds of volunteer approvals
    Supervised, unsupervised without driving and
    unsupervised with driving. Supervised volunteers
    will work under the direction and in the presence
    of CMS staff. Unsupervised volunteers may work
    with children without CMS staff present.
    Volunteers approved as Unsupervised with
    driving are allowed to drive children as part of
    their volunteer activity. Please note that
    volunteers who drive children must provide proof
    of insurance and a copy of their driver license
    to CMS Law Enforcement.

CHAPERONE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Overseeing a group of 4-5 students during
    walking tours, while at the hotel, on the bus,
    and during all attractions and events.
  • Overseeing the general well-being and safety of a
    group of students.
  • Ensuring that their group of students is on time
    to all events and attractions.
  • Following all rules, regulations, and guidelines
    as set forth by the J. V. Washam administrative
    team.
  • Attitude is everything! Being positive and
    enthusiastic creates enthusiasm for all.
  • Enforce bus and room regulations for students at
    all times
  • Be a positive role model for students

ECO TOUR ADVENTURE
  • Scientific Process and Inquiry Skills are
    promoted and reinforced throughout the field trip
    as students learn about organisms, habitats,
    communities, and ecosystems, as well as the
    environmental and geological factors that
    influence them.
