mind.

3Keep track of source information. Look for
author, title, publisher, date, and web address
(URL) information and write it down. Youll need
the information to complete your Works Cited
page. Get it when you acess the information.
4Read what you find. Sounds like a no-brainer,
but many researchers skip this important step.
5Take notes. Cutting and pasting is plaigarism.
Plaigarism is stealing. Research is using
someones ideas and citing the source. This is
what youre supposed to do!!
6Be skeptical. Verify the information in at
least one other source. If you find conflicting
information, you can talk about that in your
paper.
7Dont use Wikipedia or other user-edited
sources.
The problem is not that Wikipedia is always
wrong. The problem is that the information can
be edited by anyone who accesses the
site. Consequently, you will need to verify
everything you read by consulting other reliable
sources. Why waste all that time?
8Begin research with INFOhio. You will find

documents at no charge. Also, citation

time.
9Ask questions--early. If you need help finding
information or citing sources, the library is
here to help. Our catalog is online at the
school district website.
10Save your paper to your file on the server. Log
in information is posted in the lab. Ask if you
have problems with the server.
