Title: PAINT

1
PAINT
A new tool with health benefits
2
Currently arthropod pests represent one of the
most serious hazards for public health
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
3
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Acting as vectors they are one of the main
transmitters of endemic diseases such as
Malaria
3 million people die every year as a result of
this disease
2.500 million people are at risk of catching this
disease
Of 300 to 500 million people sick every year
4
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
In tropical countries they are the main
transmitters of endemic diseases such as
Dengue
There are mores than 100 countries are affected
20.000 people die every year
50 million people sick every year
5
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
In tropical countries they are the main
transmitters of diseases such as
Chagas disease
50.000 people die every year
Between 16 and 18 million people affected
6
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
On the whole, more than 3.000 million people have
affected by arthropods transmitted endemic
diseases (OMS)
7
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Moreover, the presence of certain arthropods can
cause other health problems such as
Allergies
Mites, cockroaches and silver fish
Bites
Wasp, spiders and scorpions
Transport of infectious microorganisms
Cockroaches and flies transport Salmonella and
many other bacteria
Food damage
Cockroaches, beetles and moths
8
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Other arthropods, namely mosquitoes, flies and
mites can also cause serious problems to both
domestic and farm animals
9
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
In order to solve all of these problems it is not
enough to carry out conventional treatments which
only offer short term results
It is necessary to find long-term solutions which
not only control pests but also improve the
quality of life of those people who are involved
in the Health Program
10
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT represents the main element
on which the INESFLY strategy is based, an
integral Control Program based on the
participation of the community under the
supervision of a team of health professionals.
Its aim is to make the living conditions of those
who are benfitted by the program better by
improving health and hygiene conditions,
promoting self-esteem and giving all the
necessary information on health issues.
NESFLY
STRATEGY
11
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
One single application of INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT is
enough to maintain a suitable control of pests
indoors of buildings during several years. Not
only is there a reduction in the cost of the
treatments but also less technical products are
needed than in traditional spraying which needs
several applications a year.
RESULT COST EFFECTIVE TREATMENT WHICH IS NOT
HARMFUL
12
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
13
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
By using water as a solvent, INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
does not have the risks which are associated with
conventional formulates which use organic
solvents in their composition
14
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT is an innovate product since
it presents its active ingredients in a CO3Ca and
resin mould. This allows the active ingredients
to be released gradually, increasing persistence
and reducing toxicity.
15
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
The active ingredients of INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
act by contact, which makes it very effective
againts crawling insects (cockroaches), insects
which find refuge in cracks in walls (bugs), and
insects which rest on walls (mosquitoes,
flies,). It also acts by ingestion, thought to a
lesser extent given the characteristics of the
formulate.
16
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Moreover, INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT has within its
active ingredients an Juvenile Hormone Analog
(JHA) providing a method of control which is
specific and biorational.
17
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Due its special characteristics, and when it is
applied on the exterior of a house, it can act in
a preventive way by creating a barrier which
stops arthropods from entering and returns them
into their natural environment where they are
harmless.
18
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT Characteristics
  • Matt plastic paint.
  • Insecticide paint which is Juvenile Hormone
    Analog.
  • For environmental and domestic use as well as in
the food industry and public health sector.
  • It is an ecologically acceptable product.

Toxicological studies
As a result of exhaustive toxicological testing
at the Carlos III Health Institute at Majadahonda
(Spain), the paint is considered to be
- Non-irritant
- Non-cytotoxic
- Non-mutagenic
20
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Toxicological studies
Recent tests carried out on the product at CIDEIM
(International Centre for Training and Medical
Research) have offered the following results
Acute dermal toxicity Category IV. Cutaneous
sensibility Non- sensibilitising
Acute respiratory toxicity Category
IV Acute oral toxicity Categoría III.

INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Toxicity studies on humans
As we are dealing with a paint, it is important
for humans to know Toxicity values while
breathing.
In the tests carried out on toxicity, it can be
observed that the values are lesser for the
formulate than for the active ingredients.
We should also take into account the gradual
release of the active ingredients into the
environment, which reduces even more the toxicity
of the paint compared with other conventional
insecticides.

We should also take into account the gradual

Conventional treatment (spraying)
It is necessary to repeat the treatment every
three months which means 8 treatments in two
years and A FAR GREATER AMOUNT OF INSECTICIDE

Conclusions
  1. The formulation is effective for the control of
the stablished species at the concentrations
    tested.

2.High temperatures do not reduce the effectivity
of this formulate.

Main International Projects
The paint has been successfully tested in several
countries to control the main endemic diseases
which are transmitted by vectors.
In Argentina and Bolivia
To control Triatoma infestans, (Chagas disease)
To control Aedes aegypti, (Dengue)
In Costa Rica
To control de Anopheles spp. (Malaria)
In the Ivory Coast

Main International Projects
Control of Malaria vector (Anopheles spp.)
Field bioassays in The IVORY COAST
As it is an innovate product for the control of
vectors, expert scientists at the University of
Valencia (S. Mas Coma, B. Mosqueira) and the IRD
in Montpellier (P. Carnevale) are carrying out
efficiency tests following WHO Guidelines in
Benin together with researchers from The Pierre
Richet of Bouaké Institute.

Findings
-High mortality on non-porous surfaces after 1
year. -Quick killing of susceptible mosquitoes on
porous surfaces even after 1 year. -No marked
differences between concentrations. -Longer
efficacy of 2 layers vs. 1 layer. -Reduction of
bio-availability on porous surface. -IGR efficacy
on porous surfaces up to 9 months even when
insecticides efficacy has disappeared. -Efficacy
at a distance.

National Institute of Agropecuary Technology and
the National University of Argentina
47
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Other applications
Due to its special characteristics the
application of INESFLY 5A IGR paint both on
outdoors and indoors of houses creates a barrier
which, to a great extent, prevents all types of
arthropods from entering.
48
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Other applications
For this reason, it is specially recommended not
only for protection against vectors of diseases
but also against arthropods which can be
dangerous because of their bites such as
scorpions and spiders.
49
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Other applications
The use of INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT is also suitable
for the food industry, both in plants where food
is processed and warehouses where is stored. In
this way, hygienic conditions in these places are
improved and the presence of flies, cockroaches
and spiders and other pests is avoided.
50
INESFLY 5A IGR PAINT
Other applications
Its efficiency in the agrofood industry has been
confirmed in slaugther houses, cured ham and
cheese factories (Spain), date warehouses (Abu
Dhabi) and cocoa warehouses (Ghana)
