Federal Tuition Assistance
  • 100 of tuition, up to 250 per semester hour
  • 4,500 max per soldier, per FY, including
    authorized fees
  • 100 of tuition/fees for high school level or
    equivalency
  • One credential at the associate,
  • baccalaureate, masters, or first professional
  • Vocational/technical certification

  • For drilling Soldiers

  • For Soldiers who mobilized 2 years

GI Bill Programs
  • Chapter 30, 1606, or 1607 allows 36 months of
    entitlement
  • 36 months of entitlement is based on school
    attendance as a full-time student
  • Combination of programs (Chapter 30, 1606, 1607)
    is limited to 48 months of entitlement

  • Benefit for Traditional Soldiers (M-Day)
  • Requires 6-year enlistment, completion of Basic
    Training, and MOS Qualified
  • Mobilized Soldiers get extension for period

Chapter 1607 Reserve Educational Assistance
Program
  • Soldiers Deployed since 09-11-01 for 90 days
  • Must be declared as Contingency Operation
  • No monetary contribution required
  • Soldier must remain in a Reserve Component
  • Pay rates determined by length of deployment

Chapter 30 Active Duty G.I. Bill
  • Soldier must obligate for 2-year commitment
  • Must be AGR or Active Duty Soldier
  • Soldier has 10-year delimiting date
  • Must contribute 1,200 to receive benefits
  • Soldier can make additional contribution of
    600.00
  • Soldiers decision to accept/decline benefit is
    permanent

G.I. Bill Kicker
  • To encourage enlistment and retention in Critical
    Military Occupational Specialty (MOSs)
  • Paid monthly inclusive with basic benefit
  • 200.00 (NPS, PS, and current ARNG)
  • 350.00 (OC, WOCs and SMPS)
  • Not subject to federal/state withholding
  • Kicker Benefit paid up to 36 months

Additional Sources of Funding
  • GI Bill - Chapter 1606, 1607 and ARNG FTA may be
    used simultaneously.
  • Soldier must be enrolled at least ½ time.
  • GI Bill - Chapter 30 and ARNG FTA may be used
    simultaneously.
  • Soldier must apply Top Up benefit
  • Pell Grants Student Loans may be used with
    Chapter 30, 1606, 1607 and FTA.

  • Provides access to over 1,500 Information
    Technology, Business Skills, and Interpersonal
    Skills courses, and personal mentoring
  • Courses are approved by ACE

ROTC Scholarships
  • Dedicated ARNG Scholarships
  • For cadets who want to serve in the ARNG,
    exclusively
  • Two and four year ROTC scholarships
  • Scholarship program pays 100 tuition and fees up
    to 17,000 p/year
  • Cadets must make an 8-year commitment to ARNG
  • The reserve GI Bill (Chap 1606) cannot be used
    simultaneously
  • Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD)
  • Designed to attract cadets who are interested in
    obtaining a commission in one of the Reserve
    Components (RC) of the Army like the Army
    National Guard
  • Cadets must make an 8-year commitment to ARNG or
    USAR
  • Scholarship pays 100 tuition and fees up to
    20,000 p/year  
  • Scholarship recipients also receive a 900 book
    allowance
  • Note! Participants cannot be mobilized until
    commissioned, completion of BA/ BS degree, and
    completion of OBC

Apprenticeship Programs On-the-Job Training (OJT)
  • Available to ARNG members (AGR and M-Day)
  • Funds may be available through the Dept. of
    Veterans Affairs or your local Dept. of Labor
  • Soldier can receive up to 2,000 OJT hours 150
    hours of classroom instruction (equates to 50
    forty-hour weeks)
  • Not available in all states- check with your ESO

Soldiers, their spouses, and civilian employees
of the ARNG for 54 states and territories.
