Discovery James Cook discovered the Antarctica
in 1775.
Size 1.4 times bigger than the USA, 58 times
bigger than the UK
Population There are NO permanent residents and
NO native population.
Day and Night Antarctica has six months of
daylight and six months of darkness. In
mid-summer, near the south pole, there is 24
hours of sunlight every day.
Water and Ice Antarctica contains over 70 of
the world's water and 90 of the world's ice,
within itself!

continents. Antarctica is the coldest continent
on the Earth.

dependent on the sea. in fact the largest truly
land animal is a wingless midge about 13mm.
