Range Name Management

Duplication - Enhanced Copying tools

• When you copy a range to a new area, all
  non-absolute formulae references change relative
  to the new location, sometimes making the new
  formulae meaningless!
• When you duplicate a range to a new location,
  no formulae references are changed !
• Note The duplicate buttons are amongst the most
  powerful tools offered with the MMs. Merlin uses
  them continually!

Why Duplicate?

• Merlin says
• I use the Magic Duplicate facilities almost as
  much as I use Excels Copy facility !!

• Temporarily save a formula in an unused cell
  before testing a new formula.
• Paste a cells formula as a string in an unused
  cell
• Copy/Paste row heights column widths for
  consistency.
• Copy and subsequently parse complex formulae to
  determine erroneous components.
• Copy worksheets to other workbooks without
  corrupting range names
• Scale data/formulae by a factor, especially if
  the data are retrieved from an external linkfile
  (eg convert from to 000s).
• Transpose vertical links to a horizontal base
  (not available with Excels Transpose option)

• Copy cells/formats/decimal settings to the
  rightmost column in a workbook
• Hide/Unhide rows in a worksheet which contain all
  zeros
• Permanently encode a date time sequence into a
  cell
• Copy/Set headers footers for one/all sheets in
  a workbook
• Copy/Set page layout parameters for one/all
  sheets in a workbook

• Compare two workbooks for data, text and formula
• Split input data into a new time spectrum (eg
  annuals to qtrs)
• The Blue GoTo button creates an automatic
  dialog to quickly jump to any worksheet in any
  workbook
• Add sticky labels to cells with control of shape,
  color, format, font, etc.
