Design Brief
  • As recognition of exceptional qualities of Civil
Engineering students from Swinburne University of
Technology we have been invited to submit a
tender for the development of stage-1 of the
    Docklands Park at Melbourne Docklands.
  •
  • The Docklands Authority intends to develop the
Docklands Park with a wetland and associated
facilities to collect storm-water for irrigation
    purposes.
  •
  • The scope of the project comprises of wetlands,
    rising main, stormwater drainage, subsoil
drainage, pump pits, retention basin and bicycle
    path.
  •
  • Current proposal plans attached provides for
80 of required irrigation water demands and cost
    4 M to build.
  •
  • The Docklands Authority is seeking
    environmentally friendlier, cost effective and
technically sound alternative to existing design.

6
The Outcomes
  • Prepare necessary drawings specifications for
    construction purposes
  • Propose / develop construction methods
  • Prepare a model of designed system
  • Report to the client on 12 November 2003
