  • The International Bachelor of Arts grew out of
    York Universitys internationalization strategy
  • York Universitys iBA option is unique in Canada
  • The iBA can offer you better employment
    opportunities and enhance your options for a
    graduate degree in Anthropology
  • The iBA is an Honours BA with specific
    requirements incorporated into the 120 credits

  • Specific Program Requirements
  • One language other than English
  • Internationally-oriented courses
  • Required period of study at one of York
    Universitys International partner institutions

  • Language requirements
  • At least 18 credits in a modern language offered
    by York, INCLUDING the Advanced I university
    course in the chosen language
  • Choice of languages offered by York University
    include Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, French,
    German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese,
    Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili and
    Yiddish
  • No prior knowledge of the language is necessary

  • Internationally-Oriented Courses
  • 12 credits of internationally-oriented courses
    outside of anthropology
  • You can opt to choose courses which focus on a
    country or region that is compatible with your
    chosen language stream
  • Internationally-oriented courses may come from
    the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Environmental
    Studies , Faculty of Fine Arts, Glendon College
    or Atkinson Faculty of Liberal and Professional
    Studies.

  • International Exchange
  • At least one full term abroad as a full-time
    student at one of York Universitys exchange
    partners
  • Some exchange partners require that students for
    a full academic year, while others permit, but do
    not require, full-year stays.
  • While on exchange, the student must carry a
    full-time course load
  • A student will be interviewed by York
    International staff and faculty member also to
    the determine if the student has the necessary
    language facility, if the language of instruction
    is not English. Please contact York
    International for further information regarding
