Whats a Widget?
The web widget is a portable chunk of code that
can be installed and executed within any separate
HTML-based web page by an end user without
requiring additional compilation. They are
derived from the idea of reusable code that has
existed for years. Nowadays other terms used to
describe web widgets including gadget, badge,
module, capsule, snippet, mini and flake. Web
widgets oftWiken but not always use DHTML,
JavaScript, or Adobe Flash. Wikipedia

Type a keyword in the Search box to search for
existing Writing Prompts, choose DE Writing
Prompts, and then click on the Search button

  • Go to any Web 2.0 page (i.e. youtube) and copy

  • Click on the HTML button inside the Builder

  • Click on the Update button
  • Click on the save and continue button

Provide your students the link above. The link
can be embedded on blackboard and moodle pages,
websites, blogs, wikkis and more

Viewing The Results
  • Go back to My Content and click on your
    folder/writing prompt, etc.
  • Pull down the drop down menu next to your prompt
  • Select Grade Book and click on the Go button
  • Click on your prompt to see the date completed,
    status, and to view the prompt response (grade)
