  • After Action Report from 2007 RSV response
    generated grant application
  • Healthcare Facility Partnership Grant 1 of 11
    awarded nationally
  • Focus on improving medical surge capacity in
    Anchorage health system
  • Rural Alaska impacts Anchorage
  • Outside assistance delayed and unlikely

Grant Specifics
  • One year grant ends 8 August
  • Approximately 600,000 for partners
  • Goal To increase Anchorage pediatric medical
    surge by 100 with normal standard of care and
    200 with altered standards of care
  • Funds to be used for training, exercises,
    equipment/supplies

MEP-P Equipment
  • Approximately 240,000 to augment specialized
    pediatric equipment and supplies for hospitals
    and community
  • Increasing Anchorage hospital stock of
    ventilators and other respiratory equipment
  • Adding diapers and formula to existing community
    stockpiles
  • Developing Go Kits to respond to rural
    emergencies

    children to mitigate surge at hospitals

  • DPH Epi investigation chart review of children
    transferred from Bethel
  • AK Regional developing altered standards of care
    for pediatric pts (change ratio of nurse pt),
    checklists, policies protocols
  • AK Regional Hospital 4 beds for non-vented
    pediatric pts
  • Elmendorf held transfer of 2 RSV-dx children
