What is VUDU?

• VUDU is a sleek black box, 7x9x2
• It is the latest technology in delivering movies
  to viewers over the internet.
• On this box, the viewer has access to over 5,000
  movie titles with more being added every week.
• VUDU delivers its movies via a home network
  router.

Selection of Movies

• With its launch in September 2007, VUDU had over
  5,000 movie title available.
• The movies come from all the major studios plus
  20 independent and foreign studios
• There is a wide variety of all genres to make
  sure there is a good selection for all viewers.

Retail and Rentals

• VUDU has no activation or subscription fees.
• Viewers have the option of either renting or
  buying select movies.
• Rentals 0.99-3.99-Have access for 24 hours.
• Purchases 4.99-19.99. Stored on hard drive.
• VUDU retails for 399.

Picture Quality

• The picture quality is just as good or better
  than a regular DVD.
• Although it does not have HD DVD right now, if a
  customer already has HDTV, VUDU has the power to
  upconvert the picture to make it even better.
• VUDU is still in negotiations with studios before
  it can offer true HD movies.

Vudus Unique Remote

• There is only 4 buttons and clickable wheel!
• Clickable wheel allows the viewer to quickly
  scroll through the movies.
• The remote uses radio frequency instead of
  infrared line of sight
• Box can be in closet and and remote will still
  work

The Hard Drive

• 250 gigabyte
• Has the capability of holding 300 full length
  movies
• In 6 months, customers will be able to purchase a
  jack which is an external hard drive

So, how are there 5,000 movies?

• It is a trick of the VUDU box
• There is only 30 seconds of each movie on the box
• Once the viewer selects their choice, the movie
  will begin to download.
• You need a fast internet connection for quick
  downloading.
• Cable modems are preferable.

How VUDU Machines Communicate

• VUDU machines use a peer-to-peer system
• When the viewers selects a movie, VUDU searches
  for other VUDUs who have already downloaded that
  movie
• Saves the company from having its own server pump
  out all the gigabytes each time a movie is
  ordered.

Sifting Through the 5,000 Titles

• There are many different categories that sort the
  movies.
• Titles are sorted by genre, director, actor, new
  release, VUDUs Top Picks.
• There are also ways to sort by critics rating,
  release dates, and whether or not the movie
  available for both sale and rent.

Some Potential Problems with VUDU

• There are some holes in its library. It still
  needs to add some classic movies.
• The movies that can be bought do not come with
  extras.
• It is strictly a movie database, there are no TV
  shows, music, or photos on VUDU.
• The viewer cant fast forward in the beginning.

• Apple TV
• TiVO HD
• Netflix and ON-Demand

Apple TV

• Very similar to VUDU.
• Very limited selection of movies.
• However Apple TV allows the viewer to download
  movies, TV shows, pictures.
• Image quality is not as good as VUDU and it does
  not have the ability to upconvert to HD.

TiVo HD

• TiVO HD is 100 cheaper than a VUDU Box
• However, the viewer has to wait for a movie to
  completely download before it can be viewed.
• VUDU allows the person to view the movie right
  away without waiting.

Netflix and On-Demand

• Netflix requires viewers to wait for the movies
  in the mail.
• New release sometimes take a while to get to the
  viewers because there is such high demand.
• On-Demand has a limited movie selection.
• Viewers often have to wait a little while for new
  releases to become available
• Viewers cant buy On-Demand movies.
