Title: Righteousness Through Faith

1
Righteousness Through Faith
  • Righteousness is the state of one who is
righteous. Therefore, a righteous person is one
who conforms to a standard of right.
  • But, God's word tells us that there is none that
is righteous, thus the need for justification (to
    declare righteous).

righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God
unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a
man.) Romans 35
and be found in Him, not having my own
righteousness, which is from the law, but that
which is through faith in Christ, the
righteousness which is from God by
faith Philippians 39

But in accordance with your hardness and your
impenitent heart you are treasuring up for
yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation
of the righteous judgment of God, Romans 25
to demonstrate at the present time His
righteousness, that He might be just and the
justifier of the one who has faith in
Jesus. Romans 326

Righteousness Through Faith
  • Mans Desperate Need
  • The Gentiles guilty - Rom. 118

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for
you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout
the whole world. Romans 18

  • Mans Desperate Need
  • Jews practicing same - Rom. 21-2

Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you
are who judge, for in whatever you judge another
you condemn yourself for you who judge practice
the same things. 2But we know that the judgment
of God is according to truth against those who
practice such things. Romans 21-2

  • Both stand condemned - Rom. 39-10
  • Law-keeping fails - Rom. 319-20

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all.
For we have previously charged both Jews and
Greeks that they are all under sin. 10As it is
written "There is none righteous, no, not
one Romans 39-10
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says
to those who are under the law, that every mouth
may be stopped, and all the world may become
guilty before God. 20Therefore by the deeds of
the law no flesh will be justified in His sight,
for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans
319-20
12
Righteousness Through Faith
  • Mans Desperate Need
  • Both stand condemned - Rom. 39-10
  • All "law-keepers" cursed - Gal. 310-11
  • Your "good life" not withstanding, hear this!
  • Do not despair, there is hope there is a plan

For as many as are of the works of the law are
under the curse for it is written, "Cursed is
everyone who does not continue in all things
which are written in the book of the law, to do
them." 11But that no one is justified by the law
in the sight of God is evident, for "the just
shall live by faith." Galatians 310-11

But now the righteousness of God apart from the
law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and
the Prophets, 22even the righteousness of God,
through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all
who believe. For there is no difference 23for
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God, 24being justified freely by His grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
25whom God set forth as a
propitiation by His blood, through faith, to
demonstrate His righteousness, because in His
forbearance God had passed over the sins that
were previously committed, 26to demonstrate at
the present time His righteousness, that He might
be just and the justifier of the one who has
faith in Jesus. Romans 321-26

righteousness." 23Now it was not written for his
sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24but also
for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in
Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the
dead, Romans 422-24
