• A document or article that provides critical
  commentary on a film.
• Usually written
• Many news stations have people report on movies
  to give a review

Introduction

• Begin by giving the following
• full title of the film
• the film director
• the films primary actors
• films genre

Synopsis

• This is the same thing as a summary.
• Outline major events of the film
• Identify the following
• primary characters
• themes
• plot
• subplots
• Avoid giving away the ending or resolution.

Analysis

• Critically analyze the film
• Longest part of the document (2/3 of the paper)
• Discuss various aspects of content and
  presentation
• Ex) historical accuracy, displaying themes,
  quality of acting, cinematography, directorial
  choices of mood and scene, soundtrack, visuals,
  etc

Things to Note

• The point of a movie review is not to provide an
  individuals personal likes and dislikes, but
  rather a critical assessment.
• Avoid the use of the first-person voice.
• This means that the identity of the writer (I)
  should not figure into the text.
