7The Review of DH policy on Leadership and
Workforce Policy for Public Health Delivery
- Will focus on strengthening public health
delivery and in doing so will - Make recommendations on measures to improve the
capability and capacity in Englands workforces
to deliver public health outcomes - Consider the knowledge, skills and competencies
needed to strengthen public health delivery - Strengthen regulatory frameworks and quality
assurance for public health delivery and - Respond, where relevant, to systems weaknesses
for public health delivery - The Review will report and contribute to the SoS
over-arching review

- DH Project commissioned in Spring 09 to look at
- What the role of the state should be in relation
to peoples health and wellbeing, specifically
focusing on the prevention of ill-health - The lessons we can learn about influencing
healthier lifestyle choices from fields such as
behavioural economics, psychology and marketing,
and - What the Department and the NHS can do to enhance
delivery of front-line services to improve
peoples health and wellbeing
