Title: Motion and Design Jeopardy Hosted by: Your Fabulous Science Teacher
1Motion and Design JeopardyHosted by Your
Fabulous Science Teacher
2Directions
- The purpose of this game is for us to have fun,
work respectfully together and to review for our
test. - This is like Jeopardy because there are
categories with 5 questions worth 100 - 500
each. - There is one difference, you will not have to
answer in the form of a question. The question
is posed to you and you need to give an answer.
DO NOT GIVE YOUR ANSWER AS A QUESTION. - Your team agrees on one category and amount. The
groups announcer will tell the teacher which
your group has agreed on. (ie. Properties for
300) - Your team will be given time to discuss an answer
then the groups announcer will tell the answer
to the teacher. - If your groups answer is correct your group will
earn the money. - Then it moves to the next groups turn.
- When your group has chosen a Daily Double, a
cheer will sound. If your team answers the
question correctly, your team will earn double
the points for that question. - After time is up, we will go to the Final
Jeopardy round. Directions will be given at that
time!

4Vocabulary 100 Question What is friction?
5Vocabulary 100 Answer Friction is when two
surfaces touch or rub.
6Vocabulary 200 Question What do you call a push
or a pull?
7Vocabulary 200 Answer Force
8Vocabulary 300 Question Daily Double What is a
scientific name for a specific design record
which shows how to build a model?
9 Vocabulary 300 Answer Technological Design
10Vocabulary 400 QuestionWhat does
aerodynamics mean?
11Vocabulary 400 Answer Aerodynamics means being
able to move through the air with little to no
air resistance.
12Vocabulary 500 Question What do you call
something that causes a change in motion?
13Vocabulary 500 Answer Energy
14Motion 100 Question Daily Double Tell how load
affects motion.
15Motion 100 Answer When load is added, motion
slows down. When load is removed, motion speeds
up.
16Motion 200 Question Tell how force impacts
motion.
17Motion 200 Answer When force is added to the
vehicle, motion speeds up. When force is reduced,
motion slows down.
18Motion 300 Question Name two kinds of force we
used in class.
19Motion 300 Answer Washers and rubber bands were
used as force in our investigations.
20Motion 400 Question Name two kinds of load we
used in class.
21Motion 400 Answer Two kinds of load we used in
class are blocks and KNex.
22Motion 500 Question Daily Double Tell how air
resistance impacts motion.
23Motion 500 Answer When there is a lot of air
resistance, motion slows down. When there is a
little air resistance, motion speeds up.
24Application 100 Question Tell what should be
included in a technological design to make it
very good and complete.
25Application 100Answer Things that should be
included in a technical drawing are labels,
color, drawn from more than one view.
26Application 200 Question Daily Double Tell when
there was potential energy when working with your
vehicle.
27 Application 200 Answer There was potential
energy when we held the car in place in the
falling weight system. Also, when the rubber
bands were wound and held in place.
28Application 300 Question Tell when there was
kinetic energy using your vehicle in class.
29Application 300 Answe There was kinetic energy
whenever the vehicles moved.
30Application 400 Question Daily Double Name
three ways to make motion go fast.
31Application 400 Answer To make motion go fast
you can -reduce friction -remove load -add
force
32Application 500 Question Name 3 ways to make
motion go slow.
33Application 500 Answer Some ways to make motion
go slow -add friction -reduce force -add load
34Design 100 Question What is a technological
design?
35Design 100 Answer A technological design is a
specific design record which shows how to build a
model.
36Design 200 Question Why is it important to
create technological designs?
37Design 200 Answer It is important to create
technological designs as a way to record designs
that have been created.
38Design 300 Question Daily Double True or
False Engineers never have to build something
within a time limit.
39Design 300 Answer False
40Design 400 Question Tell about times in class
when we used or created technological designs.
41 Design 400 Answer We created them after our
first design challenge. We used them when we
built our standard vehicle and propeller driven
vehicles.
42Design 500 Question Name a profession in which
people use and create technological designs.
43Design 500 Answer Engineers

54Final Jeopardy Directions
- Lets see where each team is at with points.
- In just a minute you and your team will make a
wager on the white boards. - Remember that you will lose all money you wager
if you are incorrect. - Remember you will earn all money you wager if
you are correct. - Take 30 seconds right now to record your teams
wager
55Final Jeopardy Question
- Discuss with your team what the following terms
mean. An adult will be around to hear your
definitions - Friction
- Potential Energy
- Kinetic Energy
- Aerodynamics
- Air Resistance
56Final Jeopardy Answer
- Friction touching/ rubbing of two surfaces
- Potential Energy stored energy
- Kinetic Energy energy in motion
- Aerodynamics the ability to move through the air
with little to no air resistance. - Air Resistance friction between the air and a
moving object.
