Program
- This program has specially been designed to
support active engineering faculty, including
Thai Government officials and Corporate s
employees to obtain an advanced Ph.D. degree in
the College of Engineering Computing at FIU - Admission Requirement
- Satisfy all graduate admission requirements/intere
sted area of study - The sponsoring institution is required to sign a
contact with FIU detailing the academic,
administrative and financial responsibilities of
both institutions. - Financial Support
- Award amount is approximately 31,934/calendar
year. This amount includes a stipend of
15,000/year to defray living expense in Miami
and the cost of 24 credits hours per year at the
current tuition rates
12 Details of Faculty Development Program
- Student Responsibilities Requirements
- Engage in classroom lectures teaching of one
course/semester - Required to complete the required course work and
pass the qualifying examination within 2 to 3
semesters at FIU - Complete 60 credit beyond masters degree to earn
Ph.D. -
- Of those 60 credits, 30 credits are for course
work and another 30 credits are for dissertation - 6 credits of course work may be transferred from
Thailand -
- Select a research topic and a dissertation
advisor and then - Return to Thailand to pursue their dissertation
research. - FIU will pay for the air travel of FIU s
dissertation advisor to visit the participated
Thai University prior to the dissertation
research and once a year thereafter. - Dissertation committee may be selected from the
participated Thai University, if qualified.
13Graduate Engineering Tuition Scholarship
(G.E.T.S.)
- Eligibility Criteria
- Be an International students or out of state
students only - Admitted into a full time graduate program
- GPA gt 3.2 on 4.0 scale
- Award Amount
- For GPA gt3.8 will receive a tuition scholarship
of 400/ credit. - For 3.5 lt GPA gt 3.79 will receive a tuition
scholarship of 275/ credit. - For 3.2 lt GPA gt 3.49 will receive a tuition
scholarship of 150/ credit. - Any International Students can apply in advance

17Special Program for Undergraduate StudentsDual
Degree Program
- Students will earn 2 Bachelor Degrees, from FIU
and Participated Institutions in Thailand - Agreement between FIU and Participated
Institutions has to be initiated - Required TOEFL Scores gt 500
- Full time enrollment is required.
- Students pay Tuition at the discounted rate of
400/credit hour - The current full tuition rate is 517.60/ credit
hour. - Students may transfer up to 90 credit hours (only
C or better) to FIU. - Typically, the total credit hours required to
complete the Bachelor Degree is 128 credits - International students may spend approximately 3
semesters to complete this Dual Degree Program.
(complete 38 credits hours at FIU) - The maximum credit hours allowed to take/semester
is 15 credits - Syllabus in English of all transferable courses
to FIU have to be provided by the home
institutions once a year.
