2Purpose
- To compare the postoperative results of
microcoaxial cataract surgery (MCCS) in mature
cataract using 1.8mm incision (Stellaris Vision
Enhancement System, Bausch Lomb Inc., USA),
2.2mm incision (Infinity Vision System, Alcon
Laboratories, Inc., USA), and 2.75mm incision
(Infinity Vision System).
3Patients and Methods
- Retrospective Comparative study
- Total 120 eyes of 96 patients
- 1.8mm Group (Stellaris Group) 40 eyes
- 2.2mm Group (Infinity Group) 40 eyes
- 2.75mm Group (Infinity Group) 40 eyes- control
- Incision site Temporal incision
- No suture
- Cataract grade IV according to the Lens Opacities
Classification System III scale

- 2.2mm Group 0.30 0.24 Diopters
- 2.75mm Group 0.44 0.29 Diopters (Plt0.05)
9Conclusion
- We could not find any statistically significant
difference in phacoemulsification time, CDE, and
visual outcome among 1.8mm, 2.2mm, and 2.75mm
incision. - 2.75mm incision induced more astigmatism than
1.8mm and 2.2mm incision after cataract surgery
(P lt0.05). - 1.8 mm and 2.2mm MCCS are as effective
as 2.75 mm cataract surgery. -
