Central Bucks West's football season ends amid
hazing reports

Thursday - The Central Bucks High School West
football season has been canceled amid
allegations of hazing during summer training
sessions. School officials learned of the
allegations the evening of Oct. 14.
Superintendent David P. Weitzel said the
information was immediately shared with the
school board, administration, district solicitor
and local police. Weitzel said to the community
that the varsity and junior varsity football
programs were officially suspended and that the
two remaining games, including Fridays
homecoming game with rival Central Bucks High
School East and an Oct. 31 game against William
Tennent High School, will not be played.
Additionally, Weitzel said, the district
suspended the junior varsity and varsity coaching
staff pending further investigation. Weitzel
said the school conducted an internal
investigation into allegations of improper
conduct by numerous Central Bucks West football
team members, and mentioned the failure of the
coaching staff to properly supervise activities.

• A man charged at four New York police officers
  with a metal hatchet Thursday, hitting two of
  them at a time of high alert for authorities
  concerned they might be targeted in the United
  States and Canada. The suspect was hiding behind
  a bus shelter as if he was waiting to attack the
  officers, according to a law enforcement
  official, who said it almost appeared as if he
  was stalking them. The officers were posing for a
  photo when the man pounced, police Commissioner
  Bill Bratton said. He struck one officer in the
  right arm and another in the head, according to
  the commissioner. The two officers who weren't
  hit then shot at and killed the attacker.
• "Breaking Bad's" drug-dealing chemistry teacher
  Walter White will have to stop making the sale at
  Toys R Us. The toy store chain won't be selling
  "Breaking Bad" action figures anymore thanks in
  part to an online petition that urged the store
  to pull them from their stores and online site.
  The petition, issued by Susan Schrivjer of Fort
  Myers, Florida, received more than 9,000
  signatures. "Let's just say, the action figures
  have taken an 'indefinite sabbatical,' " Toys R
  Us said in a statement.
