Title: Jack the Ripper

1
Jack the Ripper
  • The most famous serial killer(s) of all time

2
Title
  • I say killer (s) for this reason
  • Jack the Ripper might not have been one person
  • As a matter of fact, nobody knows who (s)he/or
    they is/are.
  • The name Jack the Ripper came from one of the
letters sent to the Central News Agency signed
    Jack the Ripper.

3
Speaking of Letters
  • There were thousands of different letters that
were sent to police and news centers about people
    claiming to be the killer.
  • There were three in particular that caught their
    attention.
  • The Dear Boss Letter
  • The Saucy Jack Postcard
  • And The From Hell Letter

4
Dear Boss
  • Dear Boss,I keep on hearing the police have
caught me but they wont fix me just yet. I have
laughed when they look so clever and talk about
being on the right track. That joke about Leather
Apron gave me real fits. I am down on whores and
I shant quit ripping them till I do get buckled.
Grand work the last job was. I gave the lady no
time to squeal. How can they catch me now. I love
my work and want to start again. You will soon
hear of me with my funny little games. I saved
some of the proper red stuff in a ginger beer
bottle over the last job to write with but it
went thick like glue and I cant use it. Red ink
is fit enough I hope ha. ha. The next job I do I
shall clip the ladys ears off and send to the
police officers just for jolly wouldn't you. Keep
this letter back till I do a bit more work, then
give it out straight. My knife's so nice and
sharp I want to get to work right away if I get a
chance. Good Luck.Yours trulyJack the RipperDont
mind me giving the trade name. Wasnt good enough
to post this before I got all the red ink off my
hands curse it No luck yet. They say I'm a doctor
    now. ha ha

5
Saucy Jack

the tip, you'll hear about Saucy Jacky's work

7
The Time
  • Killings started April 13, 1888 and didnt end
    until February 13th, 1891.
  • They took place in the Whitechapel area in
England. There was a lot of the poverty in the
area at the times so a lot of the women resorted
    to prostitution.
  • Some of the murders were the work of different
people and some were obviously the work of one
    particular person or group.
  • These were known as the Canonical Five

8
The Victims
  • Mary Ann Nichols
  • Annie Chapman
  • Elizabeth Stride
  • Catherine Eddowes
  • Mary Jane Kelly

9
Technique
  • The group/person that did the murdering of the
    canonical five had a technique
  • They killed in public but closed off areas late
at night. Sometimes as late as 3 a.m.
  • The murders tended to occur close to the weekend.
  • He would strangle them and then mutilate the
body. The only thing about that is, a lot of the
murders were not along the same lines, so they
had a hard time connecting all the murders at the
time. Sometimes the mutilation was much more
harsh, or it might appear that there was a
    struggle

10
No man,No trial
  • Because nobody found out who actually committed
the murders, there was not conviction therefore
    no trial.
  • Rippologists are still debating whether or not
it was a group or a solo actso thats about as
    close as they got.
