Finding a Job
  • Who is eligible to apply?
  • All US citizens
  • International students with F-1 visas (on campus
    jobs only)
  • International students with J-1 visas must obtain
    special permission in order to hold a student
    job.

  • Go to yalestudentjobs.org and select Student Job
    Search.
  • Select On Campus Jobs. Browse the list of
    positions, and click on any that interest you.
  • To apply, select Click here to apply for this
    job, and submit the form that opens.

Completing the I-9
  • American citizens must bring original ID forms to
    the student employment office (246 Church Street).
  • Most international students must bring in a
    passport along with I-94 and I-20 forms.
  • Your position will be terminated if you have not
    submitted a complete I-9 within five business
    days of beginning work.

Timesheets and Paychecks
  • Employees working for departments without
    electronic timesheets will need to submit paper
    timesheets to their supervisors.
  • For most employees, however, time is submitted
    through the SEO web site, yalestudentjobs.org.
  • While classes are in session, students are not
    allowed to work more than 19 hours per week (40
    hours per week during breaks).

Timesheets and Paychecks
  • E-timesheets are due Monday morning at 800am. If
    they are submitted (and approved) on time,
    paychecks are issued on the following Thursday.
  • Students with stipends will be paid according to
    their regular semimonthly schedule.
  • You can sign up for direct deposit through the
    Yale Portal at portal.yale.edu. Select My pay and
    info and click on the Direct Deposit tab. This is
    to your benefit!
