Interesting, yet useless facts
  • The peanut butter and jelly sandwich became
    famous in 1922.
  • The 1 bestselling book was a Manners book by
    Emily Post. People enjoyed it because they said
    it was not snobby.
  • A White house dinner guest of the president
    Calvin Coolidge talked so little that they bet
    they could get him to say more then two words.
    The guest told him of the wager and he replied,
    You lose.
  • 1923 Lord Carnavon opened Pharaoh Tutankhamuns
    tomb, which was said if you did you would die for
    disturbing it. Six months later he died from an
    insect bite while working in the tomb.

Clothes of the 1920s
  • People wore hats that were called flappers.
  • Women usually wore skirts and dresses, and rarely
    wore pants.
  • Women wore hats called cloches, and scarfs
    around their neck.
  • Womens skirts could be made out of wool, silk,
    linen, and cotton.
  • The skirts were decorated with candy, flowers,
    and feathers.
  • Women wore dresses that stopped at the knee and
    had no waist line. This was called the Flapper
    Look.
  • Mens cloths have basically stayed the same over
    the years.

Dances of the 1920s
  • The most enjoyed and famous dances of the 1920s
    were the Charleston, Fox-trot, and the shimmy.
  • There were dance marathons every weekend, which
    everyone attended.
  • The longest dance ever recorded was a record of 3
    weeks of dancing.

  • Reeses peanut butter chocolate bars were invented
    in the 1920s.
  • Penicillin was invented in 1928 by Alexander
    Fleming.
  • In May 1927 Lucky Lindbergh flew the first solo
    nonstop flight from New York to Paris. It took 33
    and 1/3 hours.
  • Kool-aid was made in the 1920s. The original
    flavors were cherry, lemon-lime, grape, orange
    root-beer, strawberry, and raspberry.
  • The hairdryer was invented in 1920. Before that
    women would connect a long hose to a vacuum
