  • He Was Eager (Mark 1017)
  • He Displayed Humility (Mark 1017)
  • He Was Young (Matthew 1920)

The Rich Young Ruler
  • He Missed Everything!
  • He had the wrong god
  • His Allegiance Was Divided?
  • He Was Trying To Serve Both God and Money
  • It is impossible to serve both!

4
Wealth
  • 6  Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
7  For we brought nothing into this world, and it
is certain we can carry nothing out. 8  And
having food and clothing, with these we shall be
content. 9  But those who desire to be rich fall
into temptation and a snare, and into many
foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in
destruction and perdition. 10  For the love of
money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which
some have strayed from the faith in their
greediness, and pierced themselves through with
many sorrows. 11  But you, O man of God, flee
these things and pursue righteousness, godliness,
faith, love, patience, gentleness (1 Timothy
    66-11).

5
Houses
  • If being a disciple meant wandering in a tent,
    could you be content?
  • Heb. 1113-16
  • Would you be willing to surrender your earthly
    house for a heavenly one?
  • cf. Hebrews 1034

6
Toys
  • Do the toys you purchase keep you from God?
  • Technology
  • Cars
  • Etc.
  • cf. Mark 942-48

7
Matthew 1626
  • For what profit is it to a man if he gains the
whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will
a man give in exchange for his soul?
