  • I'm counting on being ahead of the curve.
According to the latest data the number of
immigrants in NC from the subcontinent has
tripled over the last 8-10 years to roughly
28,000. If the System Office is ever involved in
a cultural or professional exchange with India,
    keep me in mind, okay?
  • System Office employee

8
As far as
  • We must take people where they are and carry
them as far as they can go within the assigned
    functions of the system.
  • Dr. Dallas Herring

The language of jobs just three counties!

  • Give me your tired, your poor,
  • Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
  • The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
  • Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
  • I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
  • Emma Lazarus The New Colossus

13
  • In the past four years, more than half the new
students in North Carolinas public schools were
    Hispanic/Latino.
  • Most Hispanic/Latino children in North Carolina
live in households earning less than 30,000 per
year, where parents dont own their homes and
    dont have a college education.

except when waived by law (Learn and Earn, for
    example)

    rules have changed for everyone.

Welcoming the World
  • God willing, I'll be able to give back
something to a community that has already given
me so much. I want to leave you with one last
comment, be grateful for all you have in this
country, the freedom, the sunshine, the people
and most of all the opportunities. You gave me
the chance to start over, to reinvent myself and
    to accomplish a lifelong dream.
