Fixed Expenses
  • Fixed expenses are those that do not change
  • Either the amount does not change, or your need
for the item will not change
  • Utilities
  • Rent
  • Car Payment
  • Daycare costs, etc.

11
Fixed Expenses
  • You should budget FIXED expenses first
  • When your budget is not working, fixed expenses
should be the area that remains untouched when
    re-budgeting

12
Flexible Expenses
  • Flexible expenses are those which change every
    month
  • They may change in amount you pay or in whether
or not they are included in every months budget
  • Examples include eating out, entertainment, cell
phone bill, cable tv and internet, etc.

13
Flexible Expenses
  • When your budget is not working and something
must be adjusted, you should first look at what
    FLEXIBLE EXPENSES you can adjust
  • For example, if you are short 100, can you lower
your cable bill or cut out your cell phone bill
    completely?
