Writing Process- Prewriting
  • Prewriting is the first step in the writing
    process.
  • When prewriting, you think of what you want to
    write about, collect ideas, and make a plan for
    writing.
  • You also consider your audience and purpose for
    writing.
  • Writers can get ideas for writing using many
    different ways and techniques.

Writing Process- Rough Draft
  • After prewriting, you are ready to begin your
    rough draft.
  • A rough draft is your first writing.
  • Your goal is to simply get your ideas on paper.
  • Write freely without worrying about spelling,
    grammar, or punctuation. You can correct them
    later.

Revise/ Edit
  • When you revise, you make sure your writing is in
    order, add details, stronger words, and make sure
    your writing makes sense.
  • Make sure your details are clear!
  • When you edit, you check spelling, grammar, and
    punctuation.

Final Draft/ Publish
  • Your final draft should always be better than
    your rough draft it should also be free of
    mistakes.
  • You can publish your work by reading it to the
    class, turning it in to the teacher, displaying
    it on a bulletin board, or submitting it to a
    magazine or contest.
