Project Overview

• Two different types of cataloging
• 1) Dewey decimal classification.
• 2) Library of congress system.
• U.S libraries are switching from DDC to LC.
• USD Copley Library Decided to change its
  cataloging system to LC in January 1997.

Problems With DDC

• Call numbers are too long and too confusing.
• Copley library was one of the few libraries that
  was using DDC.
• High costs.
