  • Taylor did not intend that his works of poetry be
    published.
  • His poems were collected and published in 1939.
  • Taylor left England for Boston, attended Harvard,
    and became a pastor in MA in 1671.

  • Born into a Puritan family in England

  • Both her husband and her father served as

    sought publication.
  • Was well received even though she was a woman.
  • Subjects were about daily life through the lens
    of her Puritan beliefs.
  • Her poetry was brought to attention by her
    brouther-in-law.
