What do you need before writing a Covenant?
  • Use assessment instruments
  • Do a strengths inventory on yourself
  • Make a written assessment of your field
    supervisor
  • List your needs and prioritize the most important
    ones
  • Divide the needs into these areas cognitive,
    skill personhood

How Do You Design a Covenant?
  • Agreement on goals
  • There should be a mutual decision as to where you
    are going
  • Begin defining where you want to be at the end of
    the supervisory program

  • Learning/Serving Agreement
  • It includes the work to be done, lines of
    supervision, hours, time off, financial
    arrangements, meeting place for supervision
  • It is worked out together
  • Include a safety valve so that personal
    differences do not lead to larger problem

  • Write SMART goals
  • A goal statement should answer three questions
  • What? the end result you expect
  • When? the target date for completion
  • Who? the person responsible for doing what is
    to be done
  • Make sure your goals stretch you
  • Include at least one spiritual growth goal

  • Write out steps you can take to reach your goals

    covenant can be changed

    reject your covenant
  • After approval follows the implementing of
    agreement
  • Reflect with each other about what is happening
