  • -Myth, Rx drugs are EXTREMELY dangerous to
    physical, mental, emotional, social health.
  • 1 in 5 teens report abusing Rx drugs
  • -Fact, 19 or 4.5 million abused Rx that were
    not prescribed to them.
  • Teens use Rx drugs only to get high

    psychologically addictive as many street drugs

    Rx drugs to get high.
  • New users Rx drugs have caught up with new users
    of Marijuana
  • Next to Marijuana, the most common illegal drugs
    teens are using to get high are Rx medications
  • Teens are abusing Rx drugs because they believe
    the myth that these drugs provide a medically
    safe high
  • The majority of teens get Rx drugs easily and for
    Free, often from friends or relatives.

  • Girls are more likely than boys to intentionally
    abuse Rx drugs to get high
  • Pain relievers such as OxyContin and Vicodin are
    the most commonly abused Rx drugs by teens
  • Adolescents are more likely than young adults to
    become dependent on Rx medication.

What are they?
  • Inhalants are legal substances that can be
    sniffed or huffed to give the user an immediate
    head rush or high.
  • Inhalants can cause a number of physical and
    emotional problems, and even one time use can
    result in death.

  • Vapors can produce similar effects as alcohol.
  • Causes drunken behavior, hallucinations, stomach
    cramps, rashes around nose and mouth, inflamed
    eyes, light headedness, dizziness, sickness,
    drowsiness.

These are just some of the things I found in my
house that could be used as inhalants. Inhalants
can be many things, especially household
products. Because they are cheap, easily
accessible, and easy to hide they are very common
among young people. Any one of these products
could kill you.

What are hallucinogens ?
  • Hallucinogens are drugs that affect a persons
    perceptions, sensations, thinking,
    self-awareness, and emotions. Some are LSD,
    Ecstasy, PCP.etc.

The risks of Hallucinogens are
  • Death can result from convulsions, poisonous dose
    levels, bizarre accidents and murder, suicide,
    and driving under the influence.
  • Unborn children of mothers who take hallucinogens
    may be aborted, born with abnormalities, or
    experience delayed development.

  • Rohypnol- Felt within 30 mins/last 5-6 hours
  • Ketamine- Animal tranquilizer causes memory
    problems
  • GHB- Felt in 15 mins/ lasts 3-4 hours
  • Alcohol
