Who is Rudawitz?

• CAP member since 1976 CAWG till 1999
• Have held various positions including SQ Cmdr,
  PAO, Gp ES, CAWG GO Special Projects
• Extensive Ground SAR experience including MRA,
  NASAR CAP
• Extensive ES experience including ARC, CA SMR,
  and employment
• Ham radio operator, communications engineer
• IT Architecture Consultant with IBM
• Evangelical missionary for technology and out of
  the box thinking

Operations ES Support

• Operations is our major customer
• Primary requirement - support of ES missions -
  SAR, CD and DR
• Support for MMU
• Significant involvement in training exercises
• Coordination and communication with allied local,
  state and federal agencies

ES Requirements

• Communications is essential for command, control
  and safety
• Immediate response to a SAR or DR incident
• Fully functional communications required from
  mission onset
• Continuous communication with deployed CAP assets
• Assets being deployed are primarily airborne

  coverage

• Archive all formal traffic on the Intranet

Split CAPTALK Formal/Informal

• Create a formal channel separate from the

• New service would be for formal traffic and
  correspondence
• Members can subscribe to either or both
• Create web-based interface for submission

• SSTV would also be a plus!

Some priorities from the ES side

1. Tech specs to have the GPS's installed with an
   output plug to feed the data for APRS.
2. At least 2 aircraft equipped with external
   antenna for APRS or SlowScan
3. At least 2 aircraft equipped with APRS by the
   July Eval.
4. A revamped SlowScan box for the Aircraft Ground
   unit that is portable and Bullet proof to broken
   wires etc.
5. Airborne repeater (1 each)
