1How to use the Follett Destiny OPAC at Lincoln
School

2To get the most out of your Media Center you
should access the collection via the Follett OPAC
(Online Public Access Catalog). In order to use
all of the features of the Follett Destiny
Library software you must first select Lincoln
School.
3Selecting Lincoln School brings you to a basic
Catalog Search. You can do so much more if you
just Login!
By clicking Login you will be brought to a new
screen that will allow you to enter your user
name and password.
4Enter your User Name and Password here. If you
do not have one yet, see Mrs. Biville to get one!
Click the Login button to continue
5It will look like this when you type your Login
6You will be brought to this page. You will have
two main tabs Catalog and My Info.
7From this screen you may search any of the
library collections available in-district or all
of the collections at once.
8Library Search allows you to search the
collection many ways. The Basic search screen is
what you see below. This is the default search
screen.
You can search by Keyword, Title, Author, Subject
or by Book Series. Type what you want in the
Find box and push the appropriate button below to
start the search.
9This is the power search screen. To get to this
screen you must select the Power tab on the upper
right. With this screen you can use standard
Boolean Search strategies to narrow your search.

10This is an example of how the drop down menus
work on the Power Search screen.
11This is the Visual Search Screen. To get to this
menu you must click the Visual tab on the upper
right. This screen is helpful for younger
students. The entire search process is done by
clicking on pictures.
12This is the second screen of the visual search
for animals.
13The Categories Tab is not used in the Lincoln
School Media Center at this time. The Number Tab
is for searching by Call Number.
14If your search comes back with no matching items
you can click the Browse Subjects tab to see
items that are closest to your search.
15When you look at the Title Details you can see if
and when the copy will be available, you can
Hold It! or you can click Show More for more
information.
16Show More gives you Additional Information
about awards and reading level for the book.
17If your title is not available in your school
media center you can see if there are other
copies available in another school in-district.
18Resource Lists are a way to keep track of books
you may need for specific lessons. These lists
can be created for you by the Media Specialist or
you can create your own. If the list is Public
everyone can use it. You may also create
Personal Lists for your own use.
You can click Add List here to make a new list.
Click the Resource Lists tab on the left hand
menu to access this option.
19When you add a list you should give it a name and
description and decide if you want to make it
Public. Then Save the list.
20There are many public lists available. Please
check back often because they are being added all
the time!
Click the View binoculars to view the list.
21Search the catalog for books you would like to
add to your list and then click Add to this
List and select the list you want to add it to.
22You can switch between multiple lists if you need
to.
23You can view and edit your lists.
24You can click Printable and get a pop-up
printable version of the list you want.
25You can Hold or Request the book and it will be
signed out to you and delivered.
26After clicking the Hold It! button just click
Save.
27You can look yourself up under the My Info Tab
and see what books you have out!
28All of these tools are here for you in the
Follett Destiny OPAC.
