Moose
  • Moose is the biggest animal in Estonian forests.
  • It can grow over 2 meters tall.
  • The female moose is called a cow and the male
    moose is called a bull.
  • There are about 10 000 moose in Estonia.

Hares
  • Hares are very fast-moving
  • Hare eats grasses and herbs during the summer
    months but in wintertime twigs, bark, and the
    buds of young trees.
  • The weight for a full-grown adult ranges from 2.5
    to 6.5 kg

Deer
  • Deer weights generally 30 kilograms.
  • Deer primarily feed on leaves.
  • Deer are widely distributed, and hunted.

Foxes
  • Foxes are omnivores.
  • In the wild, foxes can live for up to 10 years.
  • They live in small family groups.
  • There are about 8000 foxes in Estonia.

Bears
  • There are only 8 living species of bear.
  • In our forests is living brown bear.
  • In 2009 was counted 700 bears in Estonia.
  • Bears are aided by an excellent sense of smell.
  • Most of the bears are omnivorous.

Wolves
  • The wolf is the largest member of the canine
    family.
  • They live 7-8 years in the wild, but some have
    lived 10 years or more.
  • Wolves eat ungulates, or large hoofed mammals.
  • They often eat animals that have died due to
    other causes like starvation and disease.
  • There are about 270 wolves in Estonia.
