Hence, cardiac pacing leads are attached to the myocardium at the end of the surgery. The cardiac pacing leads are connected to the external pacing device which senses the electrical activity of the heart and paces it whenever necessary. These leads are placed in right atrium, right ventricle, or both. When only one chamber is paced it is called as single-chamber pacing and when both chambers are paced for atria and ventricles synchronization, it is referred to as dual-chamber pacing.
