Tim Pivarnik has served the prestigious position of the Principal at Calumet High School. There, he implemented the New-Tech instructional model, re-designed Algebra and English curriculum. He also developed and implemented “Principal turn-around plan” and a freshman academy with a team teaching environment in a block schedule format with emphasis on a PBL form of pedagogy and many more. The developments made by Tim in Calumet High School were greatly apprehended by Secretary of Education Martha Kanter as "an Island of excellence" in her Speech to a One Region/One Vision meeting. After making a certain and notable developments, Calumet High School was named a Demonstration Site by New Tech Network, a distinction usually reserved for year five (5) New Tech Schools.

Tim Pivarnik has served as the Principal of Calumet High School for 3 years. He redesigned Algebra and English curriculum in the freshman academy that was based on the ISTEP and NWEA scores together with the grades in their 8th grade English and Math classes to finish his triangulation of data. He also expanded NWRA evaluation course for grade 9 only to grades 9-11. He successfully designed and implemented a mainstreaming course for IEP students on diploma track. During his employment at Calumet High School, Tim had also developed and enforced a 45 seat Rosetta Stone Language Lab incorporated with World Cultures offering up to 5 languages.

When Tim Pivarnik was the Principal of Calumet High School, he was extremely appreciated by Secretary of Educational “Arnie Duncan” and the Under Secretary of Education “Martha Kanter”. Tim was acknowledged as a successful turnaround Principal by the Secretary of Education for his great contribution in the improvement of the education system of the school. Owing to Tim's effort, this school was named as a Demonstration Site by the New Tech Network because of the accelerated and successful implementation schedule.

Tim Pivarnik served Calumet High School for 3 years and brought huge appreciation for the institute. From 2009 to 2012, he accomplished many significant tasks. It was only due to the effort, dedication, and hard work of Tim that Calumet High School was named as a “Demonstration Site” by the New Tech Network. He effectively implemented a 45 minute elongated school day, 2 days in a week for teacher professional development meetings after students leave the school. He posted double digit increases in Biology, English, and Algebra ECA scores simultaneously in Spring 2011 eradicating Calumet High School from State academic probation in 2 years. Tim designed, developed, and effectively implemented a 6 week interim assessment course across curriculum to start the procedure of data driven details and many more.
