positive experience in the treatment of colics in
horses. - Excerpt I would like to mention one case, which
occurred with an Arabian breed horse. It had been
fed soaked barley (barley was soaked in water for
one day and not sufficiently dried before being
given to the horse). As a consequence the horse
showed symptoms of colics and I gave it the
necessary medication as usual. As this was not
very helpful I applied ,
which finally brought about the desired effect so
that the horse was saved. Now Eucarbon is one of
the main medications in use.

- The disease is caused by the production of too
much gas in the rumen which causes a blowhole or
sudsy fermentation. - Sudsy fermentation is caused by feed rich in
proteins such as young grass (grassing in spring)
and results in severe symptoms.

prophylactic treatment is indicated before
