The Government has introduced a scheme "Income Declaration Scheme, 2016" which has come into force from 1st June, 2016.

Income Declaration Scheme, provides an opportunity to persons who have failed to pay taxes from beginning to till date and pay tax, surcharge and penalty.

Last year it was a one-time compliance window under the Black Money and Imposition of Tax Act 2015 to report the undisclosed offshore assets. Now it is an Income Declaration Scheme 2016 to declare undisclosed income from a domestic source.

The Finance Minister in his Budget Speech on 29th February, 2016 surprised all by introducing the Income Declaration Scheme, 2016 which is proposed to come into effect from 1st June, 2016.

Under the Income Declaration Scheme, 2016 a person is required to declare his undisclosed income by paying tax, surcharge and penalty totalling to 45% of such undisclosed income declared.
