The Loggia dei Lanzi, built between 1376 and 1382 to house the assemblies of the people and hold public ceremonies like, for example, the swearing into office of the Gonfaloniers and the Priors, stands on the righthand corner of Palazzo Vecchio, where Piazza della Signoria meets the square of the Uffizi. It was in fact originally called the Loggia della Signoria or "of Orcagna", from the name of the artist who designed it (though it was actually carried out by Benci di Cione and Simone Talenti). During Cosimo I's reign, it was used to house the Duke's Lasquenets or German mercenary troups, from whom it eventually took its name.
Located on the Via Calzaiuoli in Florence, Orsanmichele (or "Kitchen Garden of St. Michael", from the contraction in Tuscan dialect of the Italian word orto) was originally built as a grain market in 1337 by Francesco Talenti, Neri di Fioravante, and Benci di Cione. Between 1380 and 1404 it was converted into a church used as the chapel of Florence's powerful craft and trade guilds. On the ground floor of the square building are the 13th century arches that originally formed the loggia of the grain market.

Cure Penabad - The project sets out to define a true center for Miami’s Design District by creating the first public space in the neighborhood. An underutilized parking lot, with an existing stand of mature white oaks, was transformed into a paved plaza lined by a thin retail building and an adjacent loggia. The walls of the buildings were clad in an undulating pattern of green and blue glass mosaic tiles that transformed the ordinary masonry surfaces into a vibrant urban mural. Beyond the new plaza, the project proposed a new street which allowed pedestrians to bisect the length of the existing block. The street provided an unprecedented moment for collaboration. At the onset, the client hired two independent firms to design new retail buildings on either side of the street. The Villa San Michele was built around the turn of the 19th century on the Isle of Capri, Italy, by the Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe. Villa San Michele is not your customary museum. Rather, it is a place where the spirit of Axel Munthe lives on. In his later years, Axel Munthe wrote his haunting youthful memoir The Story of San Michele, which describes how he first discovered the island and built the villa, decorated with the remains of palaces built by the Ancient Romans which he found on his land. This colourfully written book was first published in 1929 and became an immediate worldwide success, being translated into many languages. It has been reprinted many times since then.

The Amalfi Coast is a popular tourist destination for the region and Italy as a whole, attracting thousands tourists annually. In 1997, the Amalfi Coast was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Positano was a port of the Amalfi Republic in medieval times, and prospered during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. By the mid-nineteenth century, however, the town had fallen on hard times. More than half the population emigrated, mostly to America. Positano was a relatively poor fishing village during the first half of the twentieth century. It began to attract large numbers of tourists in the 1950s, especially after John Steinbeck published his essay about Positano in Harper's Bazaar in May, 1953: "Positano bites deep", Steinbeck wrote. "It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone."

Cure Penabad - Located seven miles south of the historic city center of Guatemala City, the project consists of twelve courtyard housing typologies located within a new urban development. The overall site is an elevated plateau flanked by an ecological preserve to the southwest that affords commanding views of the existing city and surrounding landscape. The design for the various patio houses is guided by two primary concerns. The first is the exploration of the courtyard as the principal organizing element of design. In Guatemala, the courtyard house is the basic building block of Antigua and continued to be used in the development of residential architecture throughout the country up until the Second World War. Cure Penabad - What makes a great school? This question provoked us to think about the history of education in the West, beginning with the development of the Lyceum in Ancient Greece, formally founded by Aristotle in the 4th century B.C. The Lyceum integrated spaces of learning with spaces of physical exercise, believing that a well-rounded citizen needed to develop both a strong mind and an agile body. Moreover, Aristotle’s most profound educational lessons took place while walking through the grounds of the School with his students. This is fundamental, as it indicates that some of the most meaningful learning experiences took place informally within Nature. Stefano Bardini (1836–1922) was an Italian connoisseur and art dealer in Florence who specialized in Italian paintings, Renaissance sculpture, cassoni and other Renaissance and Cinquecento furnishings and architectural fragments. Working as a restorer many well-known works of Renaissance art bear a Bardini provenience. The National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, has some twenty works that passed through his hands, notably the Benedetto da Maiano Madonna and Child, the Bernardo Daddi Saint Paul and the Portrait of a Youth by Filippino Lippi. The Metropolitan Museum of Art conserves eight paintings that Bardini once owned, including Veronese's Boy with a Greyhound, and Giovanni di Paolo's Coronation of the Virgin from the Robert Lehman collection. His bequest to the city of Florence resulted in the opening of the Museo Bardini in 1923; the Giardino Bardini across from it is also his legacy

Lucca was once referred to as the “City of One Hundred Churches”. Today, the number has dwindled, yet the style, grace and beauty still impress. Opening to a relatively large piazza, the façade of San Frediano never fails to impress visitors with its glass, gold and precious stone inlaid mosaic. The Basilica was built during the 6thCentury and the current appearance of the church, very Romanesque in style, was completed in the 12th Century. Named for an Irish Bishop of Lucca (Fridianus), the interior of the church is striking in its austere simplicity. Ridolfo Luigi Boccherini (1743 – 1805) the Italian classical era composer and cellist whose music retained a courtly and galante style while he matured somewhat apart from the major European musical centers, was born in Lucca, Italy, into a musical family.
