Mongolsko - kláštory (Steve) "Mongolsko - krajina večne modrej oblohy, je známa svojimi otvorenými priestormi a grandióznou krajinou. Je to aj krajina hlboko duchovných ľudí. Budhizmus zohral dôležitú úlohu pri formovaní mongolskej histórie a kultúry. V „krajine nomádov“ boli budhistické kláštory často jedinými stálymi stavbami a jednými z mála kultúrnych archívov umenia. Koncom 19. storočia bolo v Mongolsku viac ako 1200 kláštorov. Asi tretinu mužskej populácie tvorili mnísi. V 30. rokoch 20. storočia došlo k násilnej likvidácii väčšiny budhistických pamiatok.
