Meet Moringa—the new superfood. Commonly known as the drumstick leaf, Moringa oleifera is believed to be a superfood since it is full of antioxidants and rich in nutrients. Native to India, this small tree also grows in many other parts of the world, notably West Africa, South America, South Asia and other parts of the tropics. The entire tree is considered edible, and it is known for its long, twisted “pods” or drumstick, as we know it. It is from this vegetable that it derives its name “Murungai” which means “twisted” in the Tamizh language.
